In our practice, broad based, depressed acne scars may be corrected permanently with microdroplet Silikon1000. These injections are superficial, and the filler is placed just below the scar with a small needle. I cannot imagine using a cannula for acne scar treatments. Thank you. Dr Joseph
I use cannulas for several purposes when injecting fillers into the face. Acne scars are better injected with a needle so that subcision of the scar to release the scar tissue and create a pocket for the filler can be performed prior to injection of filler.
Acne scars can be treated very effectively if multiple techniques are used. Before injecting any filler, I like to use a cannula to diffuselynumb and subcise and then use a needle to go after stubborn individual strands of fibers tissue that contribute to the scarring. I can then lay down a thin layer of filler under the subcised scar with a cannula and then inject into the skin right underneath the individual scars with a needle. I prefer to use Bellafill® for this because it is more permanent and it is FDA approved for treating acne scars. Combining this with PRP and laser treatments will further enhance the outcome. Acne scars are tricky to treat, but we can get some very nice results using the right combination of techniques.
Normally it is better to use cannulas when injecting anywhere on the face, but in the case of filling out acne scars needles must be used.
Hi,Acne scars are the result of irregularities in the skin surface. In order to improve their appearance, fillers must be injected into the skin. This can only be accomplished with a needle - blunt tip cannulas will not work. Best,
Good question! In my practice, I find needles work better for treating acne scars. I first use the needle tip to break up scar tissue that's tethered to the underlying skin (a procedure called subcision). Once a small pocket is created, I inject filler to help pop up the acne scar so that it is flush with the normal, surrounding skin. Hope that helps!
Acne scars can be treated well using different techniques. the one that works best is the one that your doctor is most experienced and comfortable with. I use needle to subcise and fill.
The expertise of the injector is a key factor when treating acne scars. I prefer to use a needle because the needle can be used to break up scar tissue and lift the scar. This gives a much better result in my opinion.
Great question. Cannula or needle use is probably not as important as experience of the injector. It is possible that with a cannula you maybe able to subcise below the scars prior to placing the filler.
A physician must use a needle in order to fill out an acne scar. I hope this helps and good luck from New York City
I have tried out the Accuvein and similar devices and have not found them as helpful as I thought they would be. I find slow, low pressure injection, and microcannulas are best for minimizing bruising.
I recommend fillers to soften the nasolabial folds themselves and also lift around the mouth and cheeks to build underlying anatomical support. In our practice we combine Sculptra with other fillers "layered" on top and lasers, skin tightening treatments such as Thermage, Fractora, and Renuvion...
Hi @BeachMama321. I typically use Restylane or Voluma hyper-diluted in the tear trough area with a cannula. Versa is not typically recommended. Best of luck, Dr. Nima!
