I had my ears pinned back 6 months ago and I'm not totally satisfied with the results. I really liked my right ear results, but the left ear looks weird to me. I'm not sure if I'm being reasonable about it. But, if my concern makes sense, a description of what is wrong would be really helpful. Thank you in advance.
Answer: Otoplasty results You did get some nice improvement with your ears. The upper pole of your ear is still a little bit further away from your head compared to either the middle or lower portion of your ear. Is it possible to tighten this further? Maybe. But, as we get older (like more than 7 years old), our cartilage becomes more calcified and resistant to permanent attempts to reshape it. It is likely that this is coming into play.

CONTACT NOW Answer: Ear shape 6 months after otoplasty? It is hard to tell by the photos what the issue is on the left ear on the picture that the questioner provided. In general, complete symmetry cannot be achieved in most cases. I said it is hard to tell by the photos because I am an outside observer. When you are looking in a mirror and judging every aspect of your ear, it is easy to see millimeters of differences. It is very easy to find yourself focusing on this every time you look in a mirror or looking at others' ears and thinking about your own. If there is a significant asymmetry, your surgeon can most likely perform a simple revision. If the difference is very small, it is unlikely that a revision can achieve perfect symmetry. Although this is hard to absorb, most other people looking at your ears would not notice these things, we are just happy that you have two ears.

Answer: Please reask your question with labeled photographs. Many people who ask questions about otoplasty do not wish to reveal their identity. There appears to be three photos of your left ear and one photo of your right ear and unfortunately, I'm not clear what the issue is. I'm sorry I could not be your further assistance. Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Otoplasty It is not uncommon to have some asymmetries before and even after surgery when having work done bilaterally on our bodies, most patients are not the same on both sides of their bodies there are usually slight/minor asymmetries. If it is bothersome enough to you I would consult with your original surgeon and decide if a revision is necessary
