I had my ears pinned back 6 months ago and I'm not totally satisfied with the results. I really liked my right ear results, but the left ear looks weird to me. I'm not sure if I'm being reasonable about it. But, if my concern makes sense, a description of what is wrong would be really helpful. Thank you in advance.
Answer: Incomplete antihelical projection. Your results are good but generally we as surgeons aim to have the antihelix at around the same plane as the helix . you helix may have relapsed a little bit or one or more of the mustard sutures may have broken. I think you need to speak to your surgeon about if he is willing to help you redo this result if you are unhappy with it. Keep in mind- this is a totally acceptable result and only you or your close friends and family may even notice. The decision to redo this is a minor one and if your surgeon days no- please respect his decision about your care. You can also seek the advise of other surgeons in your area. These types of minor adjustments can sometimes be done percutaneously with very small or no scars in the office with local anesthetics.

Answer: Concerned About Otoplasty Results After 6 Months Your concerns about your results are understandable, as adapting psychologically to changes after surgery can sometimes be challenging. The photos provided appear generally balanced and appropriate, but since aesthetics is holistic, precise assessment requires evaluating your ears in relation to your full facial proportions. Often, a period of adjustment is necessary to become accustomed to your new look. Temporarily shifting your focus away from the ears might help reduce any fixation or anxiety you’re experiencing. If you’re still unsure after some time, I recommend uploading clear photos of your entire face from multiple angles. This approach will allow for a more comprehensive and accurate assessment. I hope this helps clarify your next steps. A detailed consultation would be beneficial to evaluate your results thoroughly. — Güray Yeşiladalı, MD

Answer: Assessing results after otoplasty Overall your surgeon appears to have done a nice job with establishing the antihelical fold in your left ear, which was not well-defined prior to surgery. Looking at your left ear, the helical rim is brought back even further than on the left relative to the antihelical fold, which is probably what bothers you about your right ear. If you want to revise the left ear to bring the helical rim back further, and deepen the antihelical fold, this could be done by placing additional mustarde sutures. Increased symmetry is not always gauranteed with revision surgery, so discussion with your surgeon about the risks/benefits would be important.

Answer: Ear shape 6 months after otoplasty Thank you for your query. The results of your otoplasty look pretty good. There is a small difference in the way sutures are producing the fold but it is fairly minor and does not merit any corrective procedure. Please discuss all your concerns with your surgeon who can examine you and help you with all your concerns. All the best!

Answer: Slight asymmetry You have a slight asymmetry of your ears after your otoplasty. From your photographs, your helical rim of your left ear is more visible outside of the anti-helix, and its position is slightly further away from your scalp. Otherwise, your ears look very close to being equal. You may consider having a small revision done of your left ear, but keep in mind perfect symmetry is not achievable.
