I had my ears pinned back 6 months ago and I'm not totally satisfied with the results. I really liked my right ear results, but the left ear looks weird to me. I'm not sure if I'm being reasonable about it. But, if my concern makes sense, a description of what is wrong would be really helpful. Thank you in advance.
Answer: Incomplete antihelical projection. Your results are good but generally we as surgeons aim to have the antihelix at around the same plane as the helix . you helix may have relapsed a little bit or one or more of the mustard sutures may have broken. I think you need to speak to your surgeon about if he is willing to help you redo this result if you are unhappy with it. Keep in mind- this is a totally acceptable result and only you or your close friends and family may even notice. The decision to redo this is a minor one and if your surgeon days no- please respect his decision about your care. You can also seek the advise of other surgeons in your area. These types of minor adjustments can sometimes be done percutaneously with very small or no scars in the office with local anesthetics.

Answer: Ear shape 6 months after otoplasty Thank you for your query. The results of your otoplasty look pretty good. There is a small difference in the way sutures are producing the fold but it is fairly minor and does not merit any corrective procedure. Please discuss all your concerns with your surgeon who can examine you and help you with all your concerns. All the best!

Answer: Slight asymmetry You have a slight asymmetry of your ears after your otoplasty. From your photographs, your helical rim of your left ear is more visible outside of the anti-helix, and its position is slightly further away from your scalp. Otherwise, your ears look very close to being equal. You may consider having a small revision done of your left ear, but keep in mind perfect symmetry is not achievable.

Answer: Otoplasty Hello and thank you for the question. The goal of otoplasty is to create an otherwise absent antihelical fold and to restore an appropriate auriculocephalic angle. On review of your photographs, it does appear as though the right ear is protruding more than the left, which could be due to any number of factors including choice of surgical technique, suture strength, and degree of correction. A discussion with and examination by your primary surgeon would be beneficial to highlight your concerns and review options for management.

Answer: Otoplasty That is certainly a reasonable result. I do see a bit more outward projection of your superior ear. Otoplasties involve several steps and sutures and most of them look good here. The upper suture from the scaphoid fossa to the temporal fascia could be tightened if you desired revision, It should not require repeating the entire procedure.
