Can I do spinning class (activity) 4 weeks after my Breast Augmentation?

Post-operative
instructions vary from surgeon to surgeon.  It’s important to follow your surgeon’s specific instructions.  I advise my patients that approximately two weeks after surgery they
can start with mild exercise such as walking but no upper body workouts,
running or high-impact workouts should be done for one month.  Be patient and give yourself time to heal. You do not want to compromise the result of
your surgery

In my practice this would certainly be permitted but specific instructions should come only from your plastic surgeon.

This is a very common question that is asked after having a breast augmentation. Here at Stillwater plastic surgery, I tell most of my patients they can resume activity after 48hrs after surgery. There are some lifting restrictions that are in place for at least a week following surgery, but for spin class, 4 weeks is more than enough time for you to get back into activity. 

Thank you for your question! The "rapid recovery" breast augmentation is a newer philosophy with many surgeons to expedite activity and expedite recovery following the breast augmentation procedure. However, follow your surgeon's instructions for postoperative care and restrictions, but it is common for most women to resume many of the preoperative activities and duties within a week. I typically restrict heavy lifting >20# and vigorous exercise for approximately 4-6 weeks Swelling and settling of the implant typically occurs over a 6-12 week period along with placement in a compression-type bra for the same time period, while your incisions commonly resolve to its final appearance in up to a year. I usually advise my breast augmentation patients to avoid aerobic exercise for 6 weeks after surgery, but spin class should cause minimal joggling of the breasts.  In all likelihood you will be fine, but I recommend you get your own plastic surgeon's blessing to do so before you proceed.  Best of luck with your continued recovery!

Hi and thank you for your question.  In most cases, yes, after 4 weeks is perfectly acceptable to take a spinning class.  As long as your are feeling well and you clear it with your plastic surgeon, you should be good to go. Enjoy!

Usually by 3-4 weeks after a breast augmentation you can likely go back to aerobic activity. Best to ask your surgeon.
