Hello, I have a stubborn fat deposit under my chin that exercise and diet will not touch. I am at a very healthy weight/BMI for my height. I am wondering if NeckTite alone would be enough, since from what I understand some lipo is involved, or if I just need to go for straight forward chin liposuction? I do not have the budget to do both.
Answer: Liposuction with skin tightening There is a fat excess here but also the skin looks a little loose. So only liposuction will end up with some loose skin specially on flexed/relaxed position that usually bothers patients. The best result can be achieved with a neck lift surgery but if something less invasive is desired, a liposuction with thread lift under local anesthesia would be my first recommendation. NeckTite also works for this, but many options exist.

Answer: Necktite I'd suggest necktite. In my office this includes full neck lipo, so you get the best of both worlds. You get fat removal and tighter skin.

Answer: Neck, tight or chin liposuction Much more information is needed, such as your age, and BMI. You have significant fat deposits located BOTH above and below the platysma muscle in your neck. The sub – platysma fat deposits are genetic, and are not related to weight gain or loss. Liposuction can only remove the fat deposits above the muscle, which will be very ineffective for you. You're going to require a surgical neck lift procedure to remove the fat deposits above the muscle with liposuction, and surgical extraction of the fat deposits below the muscle, which also includes a platysma – plasty to significantly improve your jawline. If you're over 50, you're going to require a facelift tighten loose and elastic skin once the neck has been defatted. The non-invasive treatments simply cannot accomplish what surgery can accomplish, and be would be a waste of money.

Answer: Liposuction options Facetite in my opinion, will leave you disappointed and offers very little on top of well done Liposuction. Liposuction may give you some improvement, but it would be helpful to know a little bit more about you especially your age before recommending that procedure. Candidates for Liposuction are generally young, chubby with tight skin. There’s no absolute cut off, though around the age of 50 people usually do not do so well with Liposuction and become far better candidates for a facelift/necklift. Delivering consistent quality liposuction results is more difficult than most people realize. The number of plastic surgeons who approach master of this procedure is in reality quite small. Poorly done, Liposuction can leave people disfigured and be devastating. Quality outcomes has nothing to do with equipment used, and is purely related to the skill of the provider and the candidacy of the patient. If you really want quality outcome, I think a neck lift is going to be a better procedure for you. Usually a neck lift will include Liposuction or some form of fat removal. If you’re up for liposuction, then make sure your provider has a strong track record of quality outcomes. To determine the skill and experience of your provider, I suggest you rely exclusively on in person consultations. Bring a complete set of facial pictures with you to use as referenced during your consultation. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before, and after pictures of previous patients who had similar facial characteristics. This means they were of approximately the same age with the same degree of skin laxity, same degree of subcutaneous, fat, etc., etc. Highly experienced plastic surgeons should have access to hundreds or preferably thousands of before and after pictures. Providers cannot show you an impressive collection of before, and after pictures of previous patients who look like you do should be a bit of a red flag. It may take having a handful of consultations before narrowing down your selection to the right provider. The more consultations you have the more likely you are to find the better provider for your needs. The biggest mistake I see patients make is having only one consultation and then scheduling surgery. Having only one consultation, more or less eliminates the ability to choose a better provider. Considering that those who deliver consistent quality results for this procedure are in a small minority the chance of getting a good outcome with one consultation is unfavorable. My practice has been devoted to Liposuction for the last 15 years. I spent the first 10 years of practice doing general plastic surgery. Once they begin specializing exclusively doing only Liposuction getting consistently better. If you would’ve asked me 15 years ago, I would’ve told you that I’m good at Liposuction. If you asked me now, I will tell you that 15 years ago I was not particularly good at Liposuction and my work was probably average, which is in my opinion not good enough. To get exceptional outcomes, you need to find exceptional providers. That means you have to sort through a handful of average and less than average providers first. Being famous has nothing to do with being talented in this field of work. Be careful of self promoters, especially those who taught equipment as being the variable that makes a difference. The best plastic surgeons typically are not involved with any form of advertising or self promotion at all. For those truly exceptional providers word of mouth is still sufficient to keep their practice full. Finding the right provider is probably equally as important for facelift or neck lift surgery. There isn’t much patience can do regarding their own candidacy, but understanding your candidacy can lead you towards having the correct procedure. I highly recommend you discuss and neck as well as Liposuction to get well informed regarding your options. If you don’t have the financial means to do this correctly then maybe now is not the time to have surgery. Personally, I don’t think the secondary skin devices like facetite and Renuvion add anything of real value to Liposuction. I think these devices are way over marketed and they will eventually completely fall out of favor. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
