I’m wondering if an Oxygeneo facial is really necessary as an accutane treatment?

I’m on my 4th month of treatment with a 10 mg dose. I have no active pimples and fee hyperpigmentation scars. The facial is just too pricey for me and would love another professional’s opinion on this. Thanks!

Thanks for your question.  This sounds fishy to me - we prescribe Accutane daily in our busy dermatology practice and have never required people to have facials of any kind while on the medication.  Sometimes patients like to have a gentle microdermabrasion or a hydrating facial if they are super dry on the medication, but in general, good moisturizer, lip balm, and quality sunscreen is all that is necessary while on accutane.  Buyer beware!  Best of luck!

The short answer is "no" you don't HAVE to do any type of facial along with Accutane as a therapy. The key with Accutane is taking the correct dose. Which is a cumulative dose between 8000-16000mg total usually. At 4 months of 10mg daily you're only at 1200mg total, so you have a long way to go. But no, you don't have to have any facial along with it to be effective.  "This answer has been solicited without seeing this patient and
