Is Volbella good for a “natural” lip? If so, should my surgeon be injecting it more superficially than other fillers?

I usually get Juvederm Vollure put in my lips twice a year. As I’ve gotten older, I’m actually appreciating the look of a less “large” lip, and more of a youthful slightly “plump” lip. I was thinking of getting Juvederm Volbella next time. Would this help achieve such results? I’ve read that it’s such a thin filler, so it’s usually injected superficially. Does that mean my surgeon should be injecting this more superficially on the lips too? Or is the technique the same?

Volbella is a wonderful hyaluronic-acid based dermal filler that creates very natural looking and feeling lip augmentations. It’s my filler of choice when adding just a touch of volume. I believe it could do a good job in your case. If you are uncertain, you could choose a slightly thicker filler, such as Restylane Refyne or Juvederm. However, it  sounds like you’d prefer to err on the side of caution. Discuss with your board-certified dermatologist about the results you want to determine which filler would be the best choice.

Juvederm Vycross family includes Voluma, Vollure and Volbella. These 3 fillers are compatible with each other. Volbella is a great filler for natural-looking hydrated lips.  As far as telling your injector how to exactly inject it, I would suggest that you choose an experienced injector who already is familiar with this product and will give you favorable results.

We love Volbella as a soft, natural lip filler that has lidocaine incorporated into it, which makes it less painful.  It does give a less "done" look, and patients love the instant correction of volume loss, You should definitely ask your dermatologist for Volbella next time you would like to have your lips done. Thank you for your question! Volbella is a wonderful filler for beautiful, subtle volume to the lips. It is difficult to know without assessing you in person which filler would best fit your needs. In general, Volbella is intended to be a superficially injected filler. Discuss your goals with your provider and they will help identify the best filler for you.

Juvederm Volbella to the lips is an excellent product, especially if you are looking for the most natural looking results. Once it settles, you will have hydrated, soft, slightly plumped lips. It's being resorbed a little bit faster than the other range of Juvederm products but it gives you a really refreshing effect without adding any major volumes.  It is important to have the procedure done by an experienced doctor.  Feel free to contact us anytime. Volbella is a great choice for a very subtle lip enhancement.  However, it is much less voluminous than the Vollure that you are used to. Volbella works great for the outline of the lip (the vermillion border) but does not add much volume when injected into the vermillion.  The best way to find out which filler is right for you is through a consultation with an experienced injector.

If you are getting Vollure and mostly liking it, I'm almost afraid to tell you to get Volbella as I think it will be so much less dramatic you won't necessarily like it. Volbella is very, very thin. It does not have oomph. It helps with lines in the lips when the skin is crepey on the lips themselves. But if you want any volume, it's not what I would recommend.
