Volbella to upper lip injected 24 hrs ago may have a little bit of swelling.  This is such a nice and  thin HA  filler that in 2 weeks or less you will be better able to assess.  At that time, you may actually want a little more injected to give it more volume and symmetry.  Be patient for now because it is too soon to jump to conclusions.

Bruising, swelling, sometimes discoloration, lumps, and bumps are normal side effects assuming proper injection. They will be gone in a matter of days. If it continues to feel uncomfortable, consult your doctor to get a complete assessment.

Thank you for your question and photos.  Your lips are still swollen.  I instruct all my patients prior to leaving the office that their lips will be swollen and possibly uneven for up to 10-14 days. For this reason, I have all my filler patients return at 2 weeks for their recheck. For severe swelling or those who have event coming up, I have used antihistamine like Zyrtec and anti-inflammatory like Prednisone to speed up healing. I suggest that you ice the swelling 5 minutes 5 times per day until resolved and wait 2 weeks to see how you like your final results and see your provider to discuss any revisions.

One day after treatment is too soon to be able to accurately assess your result. Usually swelling has gone by 2 weeks, however, we would recommend 4 weeks before adding any more product.  If you are unhappy with the result once swelling has gone down I would recommend returning to the clinic who performed your lip filler for a review appointment.  Hopefully you were consented re the risks and swelling etc is a normal process but can be limited with good after care.

No need to be worried. 1 ml of filler is a relatively small amount and Volbella is very thin and fluid HA filler. I like to tell my patients that it actually takes nearly 5 full syringes to equal just one teaspoon. Swelling is to be expected for the first 2-7 days but can easily last up to couple weeks for some individuals; it's a natural part of the process. Even if filler wasn't being placed, the needle injections alone would tell the body to sends fluids to the area to heal the trauma. Once you're through the healing process the Volbella shouldn't add much, if any, volume but just provide a subtle smoothing to fine lip lines and give a hydrated look.

Thankyou for your question. You are definitely swollen . This takes upto 2 weeks to settle. Volbella is best for lip hydration. It doesnot give lots of volume so you can be reassured that this will settle. Hope this helps

Thank you for your question and B&A photos. Swelling is very common in the lips from dermal filler injections, and usually peaks within the first few days post-treatment. Swelling can be asymmetric and cause the lips to appear so. Wait 2 weeks from treatment to further assess symmetry. If asymmetry persists, I would follow up with your provider to improve symmetry by either adding more filler to the "less voluminous" side or dissolve the "fuller" side with hyaluronidase. In the meantime, you can intermittently ice the lips and take a daily/nightly antihistamine to facilitate a decrease in swelling.

You need to watch it for 1-2 weeks before making a decision.  It takes that long to settle in.  Volbella tends to swell more than most hyaluronic acids, so be patient.  After 2 weeks, if the one side is still bigger than the other, your injector can inject a small amount of hyaluronidase into the bigger side.  The photos show your upper lip is a fair bit bigger than your lower lip.  I am not sure if that was intentional...just saying.

Thank you for providing your b&a photo. It is totally normal for the lips to swell after injecting them with Volbella. This type of a dermal filler is very soft and will not make your lips look fake and unnatural. Upper lip tends to swell more then the lower and your lips should look great after 1-2 weeks. Meanwhile to help with the swelling, ice few times per day, apply arnica cream and take an antihistamine to help speed up the recovery time. Wait full 2 weeks before dissolving ( if turn out to be uneven ). Good luck from Los Angeles!
