Would I be a candidate for a mini tummy tuck with liposuction? Two pregnancy's - 1 natural / 1 via c section. I would like to avoid a full tummy tuck as I don't like the hip to hip scar, I am looking for a more modest natural look. Also I have two young children and would like the recovery to be as simple as possible.
Answer: Goal is a modest and natural look. Liposuction of the abdomen, hips and waist with a mini-tuck will make a dramatic change in your mid-section and address the excess skin of the lower tummy. The limitation being some rounding of your abdominal muscles which will not be addressed. For that, a full abdominoplasty is needed. Still, liposuction by an experienced provider can yield significant results without the risk and downtime of an abdominoplasty. An in-person exam with an experienced body plastic surgeon can help delineate your options. Thank you, I hope this helps.

Answer: Mini tummy tuck with liposuction Based on your pictures alone, it looks like you would be a good candidate for a mini tummy tuck, and the addition of liposuction to the loins would enhance the result. Following pregnancy it is common that muscle tightening is required as one component of the procedure to repair rectus divarication - a mini tummy tuck would enable this in the lower part of the abdomen, but your umbilicus would need to be floated in order to get the most benefit from this. It would be worth discussing this with a reputable plastic surgeon.

Answer: Tummy tuck Thank you for your question and photos! From looking at your photos, you are a candidate for a full tummytuck. After having children, most women have a diastasis recti that needs to be repaired. However, if you don't want a full tummy tuck due the scar, a mini tummytuck is always an option as long as your expectations are realistic. A mini tummytuck will only remove skin below the belly button. You will have some improvement, however, it is not the gold standard.

Answer: Considering options From your photos it appears you are a better candidate for a full tummy tuck. The reason is that the full tummy tuck would address the muscle wall laxity both above and below the belly button versus only below. By only addressing half you could end up with bulging of the upper abdomen. I've included a video that I hope you find helpful.

Answer: When to consider a full tummy tuck vs mini No one wants the hip to hip scar from a full tummy tuck but a mini only works for a relatively small percentage of women after pregnancies. Whichever one you choose, you likely have a muscle separation that would need repairing, and that is what will determine the recovery. While a full repair can be done with a mini using an umbilical float, it works much better when the belly button is higher.
