Without an exam your question cannot be answered. However, your photos are helpful and you are probably a good candidate for a Chin Augmentation. You will need to see an Oral/Maxillofacial surgeon to see if othognathic surgery, genioplasty or using an implant is best for your specific case. It should be noted that patients with severely weak jaws or abnormally functioning jaws may be better treated with other facial surgery (orthognathic surgery), although a chin augmentation may be an option at a later time. These patients should seek the advice of a plastic surgeon to determine which course is right for them. Here is some information to help you make this decision:Candidates for Chin Augmentation -Patients whose chin profiles are weak but have normally functioning jaws are candidates for Chin Augmentation. Many of these candidates have used injectable fillers in the past to strengthen the protrusion of their chins, but are looking for a permanent solution. If you are one of these patients, then you are a likely candidate for chin augmentation.
Thank you for your picture. From this profile view, I think you chin is in good position.
I personally do not believe you have a weak chin. The labiomental fold is aesthetic and the position of the chin seems to be normal.
The best way to answer whether chin augmentation is potentially beneficial is to have computer imaging done. This will allow you to make a judgment about your current chin projection on your own.
It is very difficult to tell from one over extended neck photograph, but there appears to be a slight recessive chin profile, for which a small chin implant can improve. Chin implants are manufactured in a large variety of shapes and sizes which is best determined at the time of the consultation and examination. With the picture you provided is very difficult to asses if you need a chin implant as your head is rotated upward as you are looking up. I would recommend a consultation with a Facial/Plastic Surgeon in order to have proper photos and a facial evaluation. Your concerns can be address during this consultation and recommendations give. Many physician have complementary consultation.Hope this helps,Dr. Gus Diaz
Hi, I have performed many chin augmentations using chin implants for over 30 years. Your face is turned away, from the camera, making the photo not a true profile view. I suspect that the chin might be weak in a proper profile photo. Following the beauty principles outlined in my book on face andbody beauty, male faces look ruggedly handsome when there is angularity in thecheeks, chin and mandibular angles. In addition to chin augmentation, cheek augmentation with either a dermal filler or cheek implants (for apermanent enhancement) will add angularity to the cheeks. Mandibularangle augmentation with a dermal filler (jaw implants IMHO have too manyunwanted side effects) will add volume, angularity and flare to the jaw line.Hi, I have performed many chin augmentations using a chinimplant, for over 30 years. From the photos, the chin is weak creating animbalance making the nose appear larger, the mid face top heavy and the lowerface appear shorter which de-emphasizes the shape and fullness of the lips. Chin augmentation, using a chin implant, will add projection to the chincreating harmony and balance to the lower face. I have found placing a silasticchin implant through a small, curved, incisions under the chin to be very safe, quick, highly effective and far less invasive than a sliding genioplasty thatrequires bone cuts with placement of screws and metal plates.Hopethis helps.
Your head in not in a neutral position (not in the Frankfort horizontal plane). So its difficult to assess but it suggests that your chin is probably undersized. If so, you may be a good candidate for a chin implant. At consultation the surgeon will examine you and discuss your options.
I think you need new friends. Your chin looks fine and if you have never thought about it why start now? Because your chin is long vertically making it project more can give you too much chin.
Often plastic surgeons advise sleeping on your back and elevating your head following chin and neck surgery to avoid excess swelling and also to avoid pressure and forces on the chin that may disrupt the incision or cause other issues. With time these issues become less important. At one week...
Matisyahu, Be careful what you ask for; in my experience more is not always better! Your jaw line looks fine to me. Perhaps cheek implants. See a specialist but be conservative. Good luck!
Chin Implant removal information/and considerations: For the vast majority of chin implants, removal is straight forward most commonly using the same incision that was used to place it. The procedure is often done in the office with local anesthesia with or without some sedation, but also co...
