After Tummy Tuck, I itch when I get into a chlorine pool?

I had a tummy tuck 2 yrs ago, ever since then when I get in my chlorine pool, I itch like hell and have to get out of my pool. I have been to allergist With no relief, any suggestions??? I itch all over my body for days, cortisone shots do nothing for relief. Please help Thank You

Thank you for your question. I'm sorry your are having those issues. It would be very unlikely at 2 years out that your surgery would be causing your allergic reaction. It is normal to have itching around the surgical site within the first year of healing however, this would resolve after 2 years and should not be all over the body. This is more consistent with a systemic reaction. I would recommend seeing a dermatologist.

It sounds like you may have swimmers itch.    This is not likely related to your tummy tuck surgery, despite the coincidental timing. Please seek consultation from a Board Certified Dermatologist.
