When should I start to get lymphatic massages after BBL?

HI.When should I start my lymph massage after BBL? Someone says 2 days after surgery, others 2 weeks. Right now I'm so sore I can't even imagine have someone touching my belly.

Thanks for your question.I recommend for our patients to start lymphatic massages 2 to 3 days after surgery. And recommend 2 to 3 massages a week for a total of 10 to 12 massages. The end point for massages is usually when all the lipo areas feel soft and the contour is smooth.
Every surgeon has their own routine and we suggest you confirm with the surgeon you choose for your surgery.

Massages are recommended for the fat donor sites and are done to help relieve and reduce pain. We recommend 8-10 treatments for the body.

Thanks for your question. Every surgeon will have his/her own preferences as to recovery for specific procedures.  We typically have our patients get lymphatic massages during the first week after the surgery and wear compression garments on the areas we did liposuction to help the skin and underlying tissues re-adhere as well as reduce swelling.

Thanks for the question and provided information as well.
Each doctor has their own protocol It is very important that you talk to him and follow his instructions.
I suggest my patients to try the lymphatic massages 2 days after surgery and to use a full body compression garment, 24/7 for the first 3 months, and after that, for 12 hours a day for 3 more months, to get the best results.
It is important for the compression garment to be very tight, for it to help with the swelling, after surgery.

Different recovery protocols are present for different patients. On average patients may not require any form of lymphatic massage; if they do, they usually require 5-15 treatments as early as 2 weeks (possibly even earlier depending on your soreness level) and as late as 6-8 weeks; meaning your recovery depends on the amount of fat removed from liposuction, the areas liposuctioned, and the amount of fat transferred to your buttocks.

While there is no direct science to answer this question, it seems intuitive to me, that as early blood vessels are trying to grow into fat, fat that is not moving will have a better potential of receiving that blood. I tell our patients to wait until 10 days to two weeks to start any type of massage because before that, it's usually uncomfortable. Hope that's helpful.
