How long should a person wait to have persisting lumps/ridges injected with Kenalog? What strength is used? What are the risks? How can the risks be avoided? Thank you
Answer: Steroids and face lift There is no exact time. Steroids can be used to soften from tissue. I would usually wait about 2 to 3 months after the operation. Steroids can affect the healing and the results if used soon after surgery. Earl Stephenson Jr MD DDS FACS

Answer: Swelling and Lumps Post Facelift The healing process in general can take up to one month for the majority of swelling to subside, incisions to close, sutures to come out, and for bruising to completely go away. #Recovery time from a #facelift varies from person to person, but patients can generally expect to be presentable within three weeks from surgery. Patients should expect swelling, bruising, and discoloration of the skin during this phase of recovery (swelling normally goes down after 48 hours; most bruising will go away within two weeks). Some degree of firmness or lumpiness under the skin is normal after surgery and will resolve with time. Local #massage of the areas may accelerate the resolution of this problem, which normally takes 2-4 months to disappear completely. The marks from a facelift can easily hidden with “camouflage” make-up which you can learn how to apply. The scars from a facelift mature within six to twelve months from the surgery date. It is during this time that the rejuvenating effects of the facelift will become apparent and the real result will be seen. If you have certain concerns about the procedures and #healing process, it is recommended to call your board-certified surgeon or their medical staff and discuss those #concerns.

Answer: Steroid injections after a facelift should be done with great caution. Most lumps and bumps from swelling will resolve with time. Steroids are double-edged sword and one must be careful when using them to hasten the healing process.

Answer: Caution about Kenalog injections for lumps after facelift Most lumps after facelift resolve with massage but complete resolution can take a year.I would be very cautious about injecting Kenalog into lumps beneath the skin after a facelift. NextIn my experience (32 years) I have never injected Kenalog into a lump beneath a facelift. This is because Kenalog may help dissolve a lump but it can also dissolve your normal fat beneath the skin and result in a depression where there was once a lump.Have your plastic surgeon make certain that there is no hematoma or blood beneath the skin causing the lump.

Answer: Lumps Lynn, I would wait 6 to 8 weeks before any injections. Try to massage it first. If you get it injected I would start slow (diluted) and see how it responds.
