I add PRP to all my fat before injecting and this helps survival a lot. I suggest avoiding pressure to the are and any heating procedures. Local injections of PRP may be helpful and can be offered. I suggest going to a well trained physician for treatment. Best, Dr. Emer.
Fat cells are very delicate and require a good healthy host for better survival of the graft- healthy patient, no associated diseases- no smoking- reasonable amount of fat grafted to the surface area of the grafted region- depositing fat in small pearls, to remain in contact with healthy tissue- avoid trauma, shearing and pressure on the graft- eat healthy, hydrate, move around after surgery- compression garment should be comfortable and not strangulating- follow post operative instructions, ask your doctor to be available to you during the healing and recovery. If not available, office, cell phone and home phone find someone else- surgical technique is paramount in importance for graft survival- removing all the fluid and oil - gentle treatment of the graft- remove as much of the blood as possible- washing is in controversy , what fluid to wash with, saline, ringers lactate or other?.??- use of stem cells is junk medicine, - use of PRP is not based on research or good medicine ( increases the price and time)- injecting the fat very slow and at different levels- injecting into the muscle not necessary. Can be very vascular and fat injected into the vessels is very dangerous and can cause major disasters- vessels in the injected areas can be constricted by medication to decrease the risk of injecting into the vessels.- reasonable volume of fat graft to avoid and decrease fat necrosis. And fat loss and volume lossso you and your physician as a partnership can optimize the survival of fat and success of surgery. Remember any one can call himself the expert, only the expert do it right.
Though probably good suggestions for "clean living," based on my 25 years of experience I don't believe these are important factors.Technique is 95% of the "battle"; there may be ways of improving graft take but at this juncture none are proven(that I am aware of).Hope this helps
the best thing to do is have NO pressure on the transplanted cells. the fat cells are very delicate. hydration is fine. no smoking is always a good idea. depending on the area, you may need more than one injection.
