Thank you for sharing your question. In most instances the timing of drain removal is dependent on the amount of output over a 24 hour period. Once this typically diminishes to less than 20-30cc/24 hour period your surgeon will be more apt to remove them. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your question. The drains are in so that your body can focus on healing instead of trying to reabsorb the fluids associated with surgery. It is common for them to be in for 5-10 days or so, depending on the extent of the surgery being done. Once the fluid collection amounts are minimized, your surgeon will remove them.
