Is my nipple dying?

Question

I'm 5 days post surgery and my surgeon said that it's ok if the nipple is a darker color but I'm still concerned because the left one looks totally normal and the right one doesn't harden and is purple. Is it dying or just bruised?

If you have a nipple that is darkened you should have it examined by your surgeon.  It certainly could be a simple bruise, but the change in color warrants further evaluation.

Thank you for your picture and questions. Unfortunately, this type of question can only be answered after a physical exam and evaluation in-person. In the picture, I do not see anything overly concerning, but this is no guarantee there is not an issue.
