I got a skin pinch two months ago and asked dr to be conservative. However swelling has gone down but redness and scar persists. He is telling me it will 100% go away within six months. But I’m looking at it and it looks bad… wondering what other professionals have to add about these results and healing point. The retraction is making me extremely uneasy and killing my confidence.

Answer: This is unlikely to resolve without reconstructive surgery. So many patients are "sold" on a skin pinch on the basis that it is some sort of minimally invasive lower eyelid surgery. Many, many of these go wrong. A skin pinch is a transcutaneous lower blepharoplasty. In many cases, the surgeon also resects muscle. Even without fat excision, after surgery the healing process results in scaring and lower eyelid retraction. It is a rare eyelid that responds to massage or 5-FU treatment. These eyelids also do not respond to "a stitch in the corner." This is a misnomer for a lateral canthoplasty. Lateral cnathoplasty does not have the power to repair these type of eyelids. It is all too common for me to see patients who have had several lateral canthoplasties or even wedge excisions in an effort to correct lower eyelid retraction. All these half measures do is use up the resources you need to have the best possible reconstruction. I am attaching a video that shows how I surgically repair these. I am also attaching a web link with more information. I recommend a detailed in person consultation. I am so sorry you are dealing with this.
