I already had the lipo, what can I do about my neck fat now? (Photo)

Question

I had SmartLipo on my chin/neck a year and a half ago. It looked pretty good at first, but as time went on, my neck started looking as it did before. I really hate my profile, and want to achieve that right angle jawline that you see on celebs like Ariana Grande, Angelina, etc. I hate how my neck appears to “connect” to my chin. I did gain about 20lbs since surgery, however I’ve seen very little change in my neck regardless of my weight. What should I do? Thank you xx

a non-invasive skin and soft tissue tightening treatment that is consistently amazing in our patients. We use the Morpheus to exact fractional induced RF into the skin or tissue in order to tighten collagen and stimulate contraction of the tissue. For acne scars, it is quite useful to build collagen in patients who have atrophic scars but is not very productive for ice-pick scars which require TCA Cross. For tissue tightening, Morpheus is ideal for the face and neck and we often combine it with CO2 laser or Ultherapy to further enhance results. Chemical peels and skin resurfacing should be done at least 5 to 7 days after, but can be performed earlier, depending on treatment severity. Avoid exfoliating skin treatments before Morpheus and expect a period of 2-4 weeks for skin contraction to set in.

If you gained 20 pounds, you should lose that weight first. It's also very important to understand that there are two compartments of fat in the neck, with fat deposits located BOTH above and below the platysma muscle. Traditional Liposuction will only remove the fat deposits above the platysma muscle while a surgical neck lift is required to remove the fat below the platysma muscle which can be extensive in some patients. A platysma plasty is also performed to significantly improve the jawline as well. No skin removal is required.

Each individual person‘s facial appearance is almost exclusively based on facial skeletal structure. This is especially true for young people.

People who are very attractive have a dearly balanced facial bone structure.

Soft tissue coverage is very consistent from one person to the next and has little to how we look or facial aesthetics.

In the aging face soft tissues have much more of an impact.

People who have ideal jawline definition, no double chin typically have a projecting large mandible in comparison to the Maxilla.

In your case the body of your mandible is slightly small at the same time you have a projecting pointed chin.  This may give the first impression that your mandible is sufficiently large and is not causing any issues.

A good way to assess the relationship between the mandible and maxilla is to look carefully at people‘s dental occlusion.

Those who have an under developed mandible tend to have a dental overbite occlusion. this also usually causes the upper lip to have more forward projection than the lower lip.

This is all irrelevant of the shape of the chin.

In other words it’s possible to have a small mandible with an over projecting chin.

When the body of the mandible lacks for projection then the origin of the platysma muscle sits further back in the muscle drapes the neck in an oblique angle.

For those who have a long projecting mandible the platysma muscle goes straight back before heading down towards the clavicles.

That’s my best explanation for why your neck looks the way it does.

Cheap and options for this going after the primary problem are fairly complex and beyond what most people want to do.

People look towards soft tissue fixes for skeletal problems and end up with only partial improvements.
