Hello. I have disliked the appearance of my chin for quite a while now. I have TMJ and while I may have jaw surgery, it won't be in the near future. I would really like to improve the appearance of my chin/side profile in the meantime. I believe liposuction will help. I was given a quote today for 4900 and thought that price was very high considering I don't have much fat to remove. I would just like professional opinions on that. Also, opinions on a possible chin reduction? Thank you.
Answer: Chin liposuction Dear catcaity, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Based on your photos, it looks like you would benefit from chin liposuction. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Chin Contouring with VASER, ThermiRF, Coolsculpting, Kybella, Thermage, Ultherapy, Exilis, J plasma/Renuvion/Inmode BodyTite I find that VASER liposuction in combination with Renuvion or ThermiRF are best for contouring the chin in those who are candidates, but Kybella can be used as an alternative and gets better results when combined with Thermage/Ultherapy/Exilis, TruSculpt iD, or Coolsculpting. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Chin Liposuction opinion - will it improve my chin and side profile? Yes I agree with chin lipo under local anesthesia. My fee is $3,500. But you can always seek more opinions from surgeons more local to your area.

Answer: Facial appearance concerns Each individual persons facial appearance is purely based on their facial bone structure. Soft tissues are remarkably consistent and yours are absolutely normal. There’s nothing wrong with your fat distribution on your face chin or neck. Getting into craniofacial assessment in regards to balance or imbalance between the Mandible in Maxilla it’s a bit of a complex topic. If you want to get at the source record reasons for changing facial appearance you need to deal with it on the skeletal structure. Soft tissue manipulation on people who have normal soft tissues and have underlying facial skeletal issues will not treat the problem and can easily create secondary problems. Each person has a unique facial characteristic that’s recognizable from other people and this is based on facial bone structure. It isn’t the differences in soft tissues that help us recognize one person from another or what determines if someone is attractive or not. Procedures that don’t treat the primary problem are not going to solve the solution and are likely to not give the improvements patients at hope for. If you want an accurate assessment then consult with oral surgeons about a complete facial skeletal assessment for aesthetic purposes. You could also do this with board-certified plastic surgeons with cranial facial surgery training. Most people are reluctant to undergo the type of procedures needed to change your facial skeletal structure so it may be better to simply except who you are and not try to change that to much unless you’re willing to do it correctly. I don’t see subcutaneous fat is causing an issue on your face. $4800 for liposuction is not an extremely expensive procedure. It isn’t the amount of fat being removed that they’re charging for. It’s a liability that comes with permanently changing someone’s facial appearance with an irreversible procedure. Actually the more correct answer for the price is that it represents market demands and each plastic surgeon puts their price at what they feel they can get away with. our clinic charges more and I’ve seen people charge less. I’m not sold that you need Liposuction or that it will give you a significant improvement. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
