21M with eye, eyebrow and nose asymmetry which hinders my self esteem greatly. What can be done to minimize this? I understand that our faces develop in halves and that some asymmetry is normal but mine feels unusally asymmetric.
Answer: Brow lift & rhinoplasty You would benefit from a brow lift to make the eyebrows symmetrical. You may or may not need a blepharoplasty. You do need a rhinoplasty as well. Your nose is asymmetrical and you may need the septum corrected too. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Facial asymmetry There is a mild asymmetry in position of brows and lateral canthal areas. Only on the basis of in person evaluation an experienced board certified plastic surgeon could give you some ideas how to better balance this asymmetry by means of surgery. Good luck.

Answer: Asymmetry of the eye/brow There are a few options. Non surgical option you could try dropping the right brow with a Toxin such as Botox. The surgical option would be a brow lift. Whatever you decide to do choose a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. We would be happy to help you in your journey.

Answer: Facial asymmetry Facial aesthetics and to that degree facial asymmetry is primarily based on bone structure. Soft tissue coverage tends to be far more consistent from person to person. It is facial skeletal structure that gives each unique person their individual appearance, whether desirable or not so much. Likewise, facial asymmetry is based on bone structure and in your case one of your Eye sockets or orbits it higher in your skull than the other side.True surgical correction of this wooden tail cranial facial surgery, which is probably more than what you’re willing to undergo. The human brain is accustomed to seeing facial asymmetry as being normal. You probably don’t think of your friends and family as having facial asymmetry, even though they all do. No one has a symmetrical face. If you look at computer generated symmetrical faces, you will notice that they have an odd and somewhat unfamiliar appearance because you’ve never seen someone who has facial symmetry. Likewise a generated symmetrical face based on the left or right side will have fairly different appearances Facial aesthetics are not based on symmetry, but rather balance. For this reason, facially asymmetry should usually not be treated. Attempted treatment based on soft tissue manipulation for a problem based on facial skeletal structure will generally just create two different asymmetries that don’t balance each other. For this and many other reasons, I would encourage you to accept what you were given and move on with life. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
