Upper eyelid ptosis can be corrected red by shortening the tendon or insertion of the elevator muscle (the muscle the opens your eyelid). This may be best done by experienced oculoplastic surgeons in your community. These procedures can also be done by plastic surgeons or facial plastic surgeons. It is a fairly complex procedure that is done by those who have extensive experience. The procedure becomes slightly more challenging when the condition is unbilateral (one side only) I recommend having a few in person consultations with oculoplastic surgeons in your community. If the position of your upper eyelid is blocking your peripheral vision, then this procedure may be covered by medical insurance. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
