A cool sculpting procedure done to my abdomen 8 years ago didn't work very well. I want to have a breast fat transfer after explant and I would really love to use the super stubborn fat from my upper abdomen but don't know if fat from this area can be used because of the previous coolsculpting procedure. It's been a really long time so it wouldn't be still in a transition phase.

Answer: Fat transfer Dear Honest354013, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Fat for fat grafting Don't worry! Fat remaining after coolsculpting is still comprised of living cells and absolutely can be used for fat grafting. There may be a higher degree of scar tissue of collagen fibers in the fat, however all these fibers and scar tissues are removed when the fat is processed such that only healthy living fat will be reinjected into the areas you would like grafted. Hope this helps! Johnson C. Lee, MD Double Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon
