Is there a way to widen mouth/smile? (Photos)

Carly.  First impression, you have atractive lips and a very pretty lower face. One option is do nothing at all because there is no way to surgically make your mouth larger. Conservative lip augmentation may give the appearance of a larger smile. Consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist in your area and keep smiling!

While you can’t create a wider mouth with fillers, adding extra volume to your lips will give the illusion of width and balance out the heavier features in your upper face. The aim in any aesthetic treatment is to create harmony among all of the facial features, which is why a full photo or a face-to-face consultation is the only way to determine the best course of treatment for you. Consulting with a board-certified dermatologist who’s an expert in lip reshaping will get you the balanced look you want.

The keys is using the right hyaluronic acid filler the right way. That means using a tread of product across the vermillion edge of the lip in the upper and lower lip out to the absolute corners.  Think of this product as a type of structural strut. The choice of fillers for this purpose is critical. The so-called smooth fillers like Juverderm, Belotero, and Restylane Silk do not have the tissue lift and a sufficiently high G prime to get the job done.  Restylane is really the only filler for this type of work.  As I look at your face, I wonder if you have filler product low in the cheek.  The doctors who do this mean well (I think) but volume low in the cheek actually makes you look older. Transforming the lips (and face) often means removing filler that you may be accustom to but is not actually helping your look youthful.

You would get a nice improvement with lip fillers which may give the appearance of wider lips. These fillers, (Volbella, Restylane, Juvederm) are good to create a symmetrical lip. Nova threads can be used to improve lift and shape. Implants or fat are alternatives. Technique will be important here, so you'll want to see someone meticulous. The optimal method to naturally enhance the width of the mouth is by lip augmentation with hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvederm or Restylane. While fillers can be used to add more volume to the lips, I do not think they will help widen the mouth. It is possible to treat the masseters with Botox or Dysport, which would slim the lower face and make your mouth appear more proportionate. The best thing to do is schedule an in person consultation with a local aesthetic physician to determine if you are a good candidate for treatment.
