Is it better to wait to get Restylane in nasolabial folds until my weight normalizes?

Question

I lost 10lbs in the last 6 months due to stress. You can also see this weight loss on my face. I’m considering Restylane for my nasolabial folds. I am afraid that my nasolabial folds will look more stretched out when I gain my weight back since this weight will also be reflected on my face. Would this be the case? Will gaining weight have an effect on how my nasolabial folds look after Restylane?

Restylane injection in the nasolabial folds and may not be enough when the person loses more weight. But if the area is really bother you you should do it any time.

Hello Skylee.  The amount of Restylane in one syringe is 1/5 of a teaspoon, so the effect of the volume added would not change if you gained 10 lbs back.  If anything, the added weight may make your face more full and looking better.  As mentioned by other practitioners, this small amount of product does not stretch the skin as you mentioned.

There is no need to wait until your weight stabilizes to have dermal fillers placed. A syringe or two of Restylane should work immediately and it is very unlikely that it will cause your face will look too full if you gain weight. You can also be further re-assured that Restylane is not permanent and can also be easily dissolved.

If you were planning to lose more weight I might suggest reaching your ideal goal before getting fillers as further weight loss might cause you to need more fillers. However, I do not worry about weight gain. first of all, just because you gain weight back, does not mean will go to same place lost, secondly, if you gain back in face you will look even better. Filler will not stretch skin or cause any problem with weight gain

Hyaluronic acid based fillers can certainly help with volume loss in the face. HA fillers tend to last 9-12 months. Since you intend to gain some of the weight back, the temporary improvement from HA fillers should be optimal.

Weight loss of only 8 pounds affects the face and the great amount you lost will certainly make your face look different. Fillers can temporarily improve the area and as you gain weight the area will look better and the effect of the Restylane will subside

you are overthinking this. Restylane or any NLF filler is not so powerful, it doesn't stretch the skin out and will be gone by the time our weight changes back. If you want to look less hollow do some filler so you don't anymore.
