Can Restylane Defyne be a better option to restore cheek volume than Voluma?

Question

So I know Voluma usually gives more volume for the cheek area per syringe BUT defyne also gives volume but it is more for deeper lines than to add volume for cheeks. My questions is, can I request to have defyne filled into the sub Malar/buccal fat area for volume because defyne moves naturally with facial motion? It moves more naturally than Voluma. I am not concerned about how many syringes it will take I just want my facial movement to be perfectly natural. Would you think this could work?

Voluma is not like Restylane or Lyft. Volume is not a high G prime filler. It does not hold where it is placed. It is a runny filler. After placement in the cheek, it tends to drift down the face over time. I won't use it. Voluma does not give more volume per milliliter than Restylane. It does give more volume than Juvederm because the Juvederms are even runnier than the Voluma. The Restylane Defyne has been formulated to be more like the Allergan products than the Restylane or Lyft. Again it is a runny filler and will dirft after placement. I do not use them on my patients. I very much like Lyft and Restylane for cheek volume. Low cheek volume is an aesthetic mistake. Most people look older when their submalar area is filled. Don't do it. Hope this perspective helps.

Voluma, Lyft, Restylane, Juviderm, or Defyne can all work well in the cheeks. The differences lie in the amount of product stiffness and lifting capacity. Filler on the bone lift while fillers in the soft tissue mostly fill without lifting. Depending on what you’re looking to achieve they can all be useful. What you’re looking to do makes sense, especially in the submalar area, where a stretchy filler like Defyne would work well.

While Voluma is an excellent filler for the cheek/malar region, many other fillers can be used effectively.    Restylane Lyft works well in this area, and Restylane Defyne can also be used effectively here.      I would certainly offer it, particular based on your desires.

The majority of hyaluronic acid fillers are pretty much the same. In my opinion you will benefit greatly from having autologous fat grafting which will provide you with natural and near permanent results with absolutely normal movement of the face. Good luck from New York City
