Voluma result: when can you evaluate the final result and what is the best time for touchups?

You should start to see results from Voluma very quickly after your treatment. You may have some bruising and swelling for a few days. Once that settles down, you'll get a good idea of your final result.
The hyaluronic acid in Voluma is hydrophilic, which means it immediately starts to attract water into the injected areas to volumize the skin. Voluma tends to swell less than the other HAs, as it uses Vycross technology. Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of our skin that keeps it plump with moisture. Aging depletes our natural stores of HA; Voluma restores them.
To be sure that results are natural looking, we like to be conservative when restoring volume to the face, so the best dermatologists will usually be careful not to over-inject Voluma. Keeping before-and-after photos with consistent lighting will help you see the benefits of treatment. As for when and if you want to add more, that's up to you. However, I'd suggest waiting at least a month before judging. Then, if you still want more volume, consult a board-certified dermatologist who can gradually add more Voluma.

It takes 1-2 weeks for final results with Voluma. Most injectors will schedule a follow-up at that time to discuss final results. If you're unhappy with your final results, you can have a touch-up or have it reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. Best, Dr. Emer

Thank you for sharing your question and congratulations on your Voluma placement.  Though the answer to your question will depend on the amount of initial Voluma placed into your cheeks most touch-ups can be performed 2-3 weeks after treatment.  This allows the swelling in your tissues to resolve and the filler to soften and mature, leading to more predictable results.  Hope this helps.

You want to wait at least 2-4 weeks before judging your final results. If you don't like what you see then yes, return to your injector for a touch up. Always best to start conservatively. Hope this helps.

Give yourself a week or two to allow your swelling to calm down before evaluating your Voluma results. Voluma's effects are immediate, but you need to give yourself a little time to acclimate to your new look. Even though it may not match the ideal in your head, the improvement may be significant enough that you are satisfied, once you get used to it. If you do want to add more, a board-certified dermatologist will work with you to create a look that is still natural and flattering while giving you the volume you want.

You want to wait at least two weeks after getting your Voluma injections before judging your final results. So, if you're not happy with results, speak with your injector about getting a touch more. It's always best to start small as it's a lot easier to add filler than dissolve it.

Thank you for your question eye_fix. Voluma is a filler used to enhance the appearance of the face. After a Voluma treatment swelling can last for 1-2 weeks. At that point the final results are seen. In our office we have patients return at this time to assess the results via photographs and add more product if further enhancement is desired. The Voluma will reach its final results in about 2 weeks. At that time, the tissue integration is complete and the swelling should have subsided. Anytime after that is good to get a touch up if you want to correct minor abnormalities.
