I am a 41 year old latin female and I had lower blepharoplasty surgery three weeks ago. The doctor did get rid of the bags under my eyes but now I have these unsightly scars to look at. Aside from the scars, I am still having trouble shutting my eyes completely. In my follow up appointment yesterday, my doctor said that it looks like my scars are hyper pigmenting and he prescribed an 8% hydroquinone bleaching cream to put on twice daily. Is there anything else I can do to help the scars fade?
Answer: Post-op scars The scars appear to be somewhat low which enhances their visibility. However, with time and using the "bleaching gels' with sunblock, they should improve. I would also do exercises by closing your eyes tightly as well as pushing up on your lower lids with the eraser end of a pencil to help improve eye closure.

CONTACT NOW Answer: Recommend starting proper scar laser treatments to minimize appearance of scar Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and RF therapy to help reduce the longterm effects of the scarring. Keloids, hypertrophic scars, widened scars, red scars, and hyperpigmented scars all require scar modulation with topical creams followed by lasers and RF therapy. Topical skincare should be directed to a specific need, whether for pigmentation or hypertrophy and our office can guide you through the process to obtain the correct Plato’s Scar cream or Melarase cream for hypertrophy and discoloration. In terms of lasers, we would employ the vbeam laser for redness, Venus Viva RF, PRP microneedling, chemical peels, and Morpheus 8, fractional erbium, or fractional co2. All of these have their individual benefits. Most of all, we recommend you visit a solid plastic surgeon who understands surgical scar revision, laser therapy, and RF therapy for scars. Answer: Lower Eyelid Scarring I have seen this in the past many times and patients who treat these early with lasers and topical scar gels do very well. I suggest seeking a consultation with a cosmetic dermatologist who specializes in scar treatments. Best, Dr. Emer.
