What is the best way to reverse abdominal etching? 1 year post op. (photo)

Thank you for your question regarding how to reverse your abdominal etching or VASER hi-def abdomen.  Based on your single picture and not a physical examination, I would suggest more liposuction.  Ultrasound and radio frequency will not improve your results at this point.  Since it is a revision of abdominal etching, you must use the VASER.  VASER will help melt through the abdominal scar and help further remove abdominal fat.  What you now need is complete removal of all abdominal wall fat.  It appears from your single picture that just the fat around the muscles was removed.  When you are considering a revision, please seek an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon who has performed many VASER hi-def liposuction procedures.  If you have any more questions regarding abdominal etching, VASER hi-def or how to reverse abdominal etching, please contact my office.  Sincerely, Dr. Katzen

Thank you for your question and photo. This is a single view limited photo, but what I can see is poorly done etching. You also have gynecomastia. You need to see a board certified plastic surgeon trained in VASER Hi Def Lipo to get a chiseled muscular body. Etching alone gives poor results and looks fake. I can see why you might want to reverse it, especially if the etching is not at the level of the rectus muscle inscriptions. I trained with Dr. Alfredo Hoyos of Bogota, Colombia, the inventor of the VASER Hi Def Lipo (VHD). Very few surgeons are trained in these advanced sculpting techniques.

It looks like you need a revision procedure. It may also have been that you needed a mini amount of skin removal for the best result. I suggest seeing someone with experience in body shaping and fat grafting. Best, Dr. Emer.

Hello, good day! thanks for your question and provided picture !!Based on your description and picture, I recommend you to have another liposuction surgery. Because if you want to reverse these results, liposuction will be needed to remove the athletic look you have right now. But the contour will not be removed completely, besides that you will improve your results! Good luck!

Thanks for sharing your pics. It is difficult to correct this, would suggest to undergo liposuction for entire abdomen and remove the fat between the etching to give a better contour. Consult a board certified plastic surgeon.

A new liposuction procedure can be done. In this new liposuction your surgeon can have in mind your desire of a flat tummy

Sorry to hear that you regret the decision to have the procedure.  It is difficult to correct, but likely can be improved.  The areas with persistent adipose deposits between the etched indentions can be liposuctioned further, and the contour depressions that have been etched can potentially be fat grafted.  The grafting may be somewhat unpredictable, as the site is certainly scarred from the prior surgery and  consequently is not an ideal recipient site for fat grafts.  Best place to start is with your surgeon.  Good luck.

This is a very difficult situation. You can do more liposuction to reduce the fat but reversing the etching is close to impossible. However, more liposuction can reduce the extent of the contour deformities and at least make it look better. Best of luck. 

What you need to have done is better removal of all of the fat from your abdomen; true abdominal etching requires removal of all the fat in order to make your own muscles shine, not creation of unnanutral lines that you are seeing as well as residual fat left along the entire abdomen.
