Restylane Refyne is very efficient in maintaining movement and expression in the lips, while also treating fine lines and wrinkles. Juvederm also reduces the appearance of wrinkles. Both give a plumping effect to add volume. However, Juvederm results are immediate after injection, while Restylane Refyne may take a couple of days. Refyne also takes on a much more natural look and patients say that it is better for mobility in the lip region. Like Restylane Refyne, patients say Juvederm Volbella gives them a more natural look. Volbella is a finer product than Refyne and should give the lip great definition. Refyne, Juvederm, and Volbella are all Hyaluronic Acid fillers and will, therefore, share similar results.
Thank you for your question. The differences between the three fillers that you mentioned lies in their consistency. More important than the filler used is the experience and qualifications of your injector. An expert injector can examine you and let you know which of the wide selection of filler products available would offer you the best possible results. Best of luck!
Restalyne Refyne is a great choice to plump lips and also to inject on vertical lip lines if those are present. This newer HA product tends to have very little swelling and a faster recovery.Other fillers for lip plumping that we use in our practice is Restalyne L,Restalyne Defyne, Juviderm Ultra XC, Juviderm Ultra Plus, Juviderm Vollure, and in some cases Juviderm Volbella which tends to have a minimal enhancement and more of a smoother lip gloss effect.
Retylane Refyne, Juvederm products and Volbella (also a Juvederm product) are all hyaluronic acid fillers. Each HA filler is uniquely formulated to allow for optimal performance in different areas of the face. For example, some HA fillers (such as Juvederm Ultra XC), are manufactured to give structure and support, while Restylane Refyne is engineered to incorporate into tissue while soften superficial lines without being rigid. Juvederm Ultra XC and Volbella are FDA cleared for use in the lips and perioral region. While use of Restylane Refyne in the lips is considered off label, it is certainly known to be done and reasonable in advanced practice. Your board certified plastic surgeon will assess your anatomy and listen to your desired outcome to select the best HA filler for you.
Refyne is much more mobile than juvederm or volbella. Refyne is designed to be more mobile and flexible in highly mobile areas like the lip and laugh lines.Best wishes, Dr. ALDO
Restylane Refyne has worked amazingly well in the lips and is now our go to product instead of Juvederm as it's associated with a smooth fill, providing a plump lip, that can last longer than Juvederm and is associated with less swelling. It's great for younger patients wanting a plumper lip.
Thank you for your question. I routinely use Restylane, Restylane Silk, Juvederm Ultra, Volbella and now Restylane Refyne in the lips.Restylane Silk and Volbella work great to address fine lines and create more of a lip-gloss or silky appearance to the lips.I use the others to create a fuller appearance to the lips. Juvederm and Refyne is also great to be used in areas of high motion (lips included). Thus if the same syringe is being used for more than one area, then that may drive product selection. Restylane is a great one for lips. It's particle size still allows for a supple feel, but it is probably a little stiffer than the others.I would state, however, that much more important than which of these products you use, is the experience level of the injector. I do a lot of trainings on behalf of Galderma (makers of the Restylane family of injectables) and Allergan (makers of the Juvederm, Volbella family of injectables) and know first hand how much of the results is dependent on skills and experience. I would recommend that you go to an experienced injector in your area.
Personally as an injector, I do not like these products at all. These are all so-called smooth fillers. I think of these products as runny. They exist because manufactures recognize that doctor and nurse injectors make bumps. The bumps resolve themselves with the so-called smooth fillers. That is a good thing. The on the other hand what stops the volume you need in your lip from also spreading out? The answer is nothing. That is why people end up a lip shelf. I very much like fillers for the lip that are not runny. Specifically, I very much like Restylane for this. Yes it is fussy but the products hold precisely where it is placed so the service can be make much more accurately. Look for the injector not the product.
Great question! All of these products are HA (hyaluronic acid) fillers. They differ in density and flexibility properties as well as longevity. The most flexible and least dense product is Volbella but it is also the shortest lasting. Juvederm (xc) is the stiffest of these products but potentially the longest lasting. Refyne has a different type of cross linking of the HA molecules which gives it greater flexibility. Also refyne has less affinity for water making it swell less and potentially give a less filled look.
The product to use in the lips is very dependent upon the desire of the person whose lips are to be filled and the comfort of the physician. The adantage of Restylane Refyne is its flexibility and its lighter quality. Regular Juvederm is a thicker product and gives a more full appearance while Restylane Silk is also a thin product and gives a very shiney, voluptuous appearance to the lips. Occasionally, Restylane Silk can lead to excessive swelling, similarly to Juvederm Ultra, which I don't see with Restylane Refyne. Juvederm Vobella is a fine product too and many times is a good introductory filler for lips as the fill is mild and never excessive for the person wanting just a slight accent. Each product does a wonderful job for lip volume and good results can be achieved with all fillers.
