Hi, I'm a 60 year old woman who is starting to notice some upper and lower smoker's lip lines (although I've never smoked). I've read that Boltero filler is good for lip lines but I also read that Restylane Refyne is a newer option, good for lip lines and can last longer. What filler do you like that gives good results and lasts up to a year? Thank you!

Answer: Vertical Lines / Smoker's Lines -- Fillers (Restylane Silk, Belotero), Laser Resurfacing, Peels, Superficial RF, Microneedling Fillers such as Restylane Silk, Belotero, or Juvederm can work well to treat lines around the mouth, but the best first option is laser resurfacing or deep peels to induce collagen production. Superficial radiofrequency devices and microneedling can help as well and are less invasive. I suggest going to an experienced cosmetic dermatologist with expertise in lasers and fillers. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Smoker's Lines Thank you for your question! In regards to smoker's lines, these appear due to the facial expression of pursing your lips. You should start by doing botox for the upper lip to prevent any lines from getting worse. In terms of filler, belotero really lasts around 3 months so if you are looking for longevity I wouldn't choose this product. Vollure and Volbella are great options for around the mouth and will last you closer to one year. Hope this helps!
