Should I wait or get my Restylane Silk for smokers line dissolved?

Smokers lines take a very delicate technique when it comes to filler injections. With any filler or Botox injectable, I always suggest waiting at least one week before considering the final outcome. Oftentimes filler needs one week to integrate and settle with the skin, as well as waiting for swelling to reside. It's too soon to tell what your final results will be. You have swelling, which can be asymmetrical, and last 1-2 weeks after filler injections. If you're unhappy with your final results, you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Thanks for your question.  There can be swelling and some "lumps and bumps" for up to a week or two after any filler, so I would definitely give it some time to settle and see if things even out.  You can try some gentle massage if there are visible nodules near the surface of the skin.  Restylane Silk is a nice, flexible and forgiving filler for the area around the mouth, so I hope you love your results after giving it some time.

Hello there! It takes about 2-4 weeks post-filler for the full result to be seen. During this healing time, it is very normal for patients to experience swelling, lumps, unevenness, bruising, and tenderness. After 2-4 weeks, if you still have concerns, I would consult with your injector about further treatment. They may recommend more filler, or reversal of the filler injected. Good luck! Sarah RN BSN 

I would wait the full 10-14 days before deciding on the results. If at that time you are still unhappy, get hyaluronidase injected to dissolve it. Restylane Silk is relatively easy to dissolve. Alternatives to treating lip lines are ablative lasers such as CO2 and Erbium.

What you describe are early side effects of Restylane Silk even in the best hands.  Give the product at least 6 weeks to "equilibrate" or one may also say, "homogenize" into the tissue.  Then if you still do not care for it, the product can be corrected using hyaluronidase to dissolve the excess.
