I had a chin reduction two years ago through the submental approach. I have residual dimpling and unevenness due to what I think is scar tissue and/or extra remaining tissue. I would like to avoid fillers, as my original goal was a vertical chin reduction, and my results are already a bit difficult to see owing to the remaining extra tissue/scar tissue. Is there anything that can be done to remove it and avoid making the chin larger?
Answer: Scar revision Hello, From the photos it appears that you could have scar revision under local or general anesthesia to correct the unevenness with movement of the jaw and to potentially remove any excess scar tissue present. My recommendation to you is to seek an in person consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in your area so they can go over the options that are best for you after they have examined you. Hope this helps. Best Wishes,Dr. Lane Smith Las Vegas, NV

Answer: Scar revision can be done for this Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started. Answer: Options for Chin Scars Hello Rachel. It appears with the size of the scar that revision may be difficult. Subcision with dermal fillers and/or fractional resurfacing are other options. Best bet is an in person consultation to see (and feel) the scars close up.

Answer: Dimpling of chin skin after chin reduction? Dimpling of chin skin after chin reduction? I would need to see this in person with motion to give an informed answer. This is not scar tissue and revision is unlikely to help. Fillers may improve this. Having done hundreds of these I have not had this problem.

Answer: Scar Dear racheldeck, it is hard to tell for sure, but based on your photos, you might need scar revision surgery in order to achieve best results. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.
