How to remove a bump from an old hematoma, would liposuction resolve it? I am a 33 yo female, 5'6 130 lbs, exercise regularly.

I was in a small motorcycle accident 6 years ago. I had no major injuries but developed a hematoma on my right thigh. It has healed and I have no pain from it, but it left a lump on the outside of my thigh which causes a large dimple on my thigh as well. I was curious how this lump could be removed - is this something that could be resolved with liposuction? Or would something else need to be done due to the nature of the tissue?

it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Generally sleeping, liposuction can help with old hematomas. I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

Liposuction is not really a good approach for removing scar tissue.  Scar tissue is best removed by direct excision.  Unfortunately, this can leave you with a scar overlying the area.  Injection with scar reducing steroid or hyaluronidase may help.  Fat transfer to the dimple may improve the balance of the region.  Your situation is best analyzed in person.

This is difficult to answer without pictures, but liposuction can be used to improve this. For best results, I recommend a hi definition procedure like VASER liposuction. I use VASER HI DEF with ThermRF and fat grafting to get the most fat removal, skin tightening, contour and definition. This combination will give you the most toned and even result. best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation.  It depends on the tissue.  In some patients, liposuction alone may be helpful.  In other patients, an additional excision may be needed.   Make sure you specifically look
at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery
performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results.   The most
important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend
that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who
can evaluate you in person.

It is really difficult to say without an exam.  Liposuction can certainly be used to removed old blood and fluid, however, given that your incident was 6 years ago, it is more likely scar tissue that you have developed, not fat.However, it would be best to visit with a board certified plastic surgeon to have a proper exam performed.

This may have evolved into a lipoma - a soft tissue benign mass that has organized after the hematoma infiltrated the soft tissue. Lipomas are treated by surgical removal with an incision over the mass, usually, as opposed to with liposuction. However, there could be other aspects to the lump that may make it amenable to liposuction. Exam in the office would be required in order to properly assess and advise you.

A hematoma can leave a variety of different bumps. It is important to determine which kind it is to know what the best procedure to remove it is. It usually full of fibrous collagen, calcium, or cystic in nature so there is a chance that it will only be resolved by surgically removing the lump itself. Liposuction can be used to remove hematomas, but it’s still best to consult a reputable and board-certified plastic surgeon and have him physically assess you to know if it’s feasible in your situation. 
Based on the info you provided, you have a normal BMI, making you a good candidate for liposuction.
