I am a day away from having my cast removed, and I am reading a lot of things that say swelling can increase a day or two after.. Will laying icewater gauze over the nose help circumvent this... similar to how icing right after the surgery to prevent swelling works? Thank you!
Answer: Preventing swelling after rhinoplasty cast removal Swelling peaks around one week after surgery. I would not recommend laying ice water gauze over the nose after surgery, as it will not make much difference in your swelling. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a great treatment for reducing swelling post-op. I would recommend speaking with your surgeon about this option, as he/she may have specific guidelines for you to follow. I hope this helps, and I wish you the best of luck.

Answer: Preventing Swelling After Rhinoplasty Dear jennygirlinla~Icing will not really do anything for swelling this far out from your surgery. What you can do is avoid things that make the nose more swollen, such as salt, alcohol, sun, and certain types of exercise such as yoga. You can also sleep on extra pillows so that your head is kept elevated at night.Best wishes for your recovery,Amy Hsu

Answer: Ice generally has no effect on swelling several days after an operation. It is unlikely that icing the nose several days after a rhinoplasty will make much difference. It may give some symptomatic relief but for the most part there is nothing that can be done specifically to decrease swelling after a rhinoplasty.

Answer: Preventing swelling after rhinoplasty cast removal Actually swelling is diminishing by the time the splint is removed. You might have noticed that the swelling over the bridge and between your eyes was at its worst about three days after surgery. The splint will control the swelling as well as the shape, but after a week it is of little benefit and might become loose. We don't recommend any taping or ice after splint removal as things will sort out without help. Check with your doctor for his routine.
