I have two shallow dents from steroid shots. I tried fillers but they make my nose wider, what are other surgical methods that can fix shallow dents besides grafting and fillers?
Answer: Dermal atrophy from steroid injections Hi Monique,Typically, if atrophy occurs from a steroid shot, then it reverses completely 3-6 months later. If you have not waited that long, then don't do anything permanent yet. Fillers would be the best option. After that, I would suggest fat grafting or excision of the area.

Answer: Grafting and fillers are mainstays for a depression of the nose. These are the two primary modalities to fix the issue you're talking about. One could throw in excision and closure but this would be in most cases overly aggressive.

Answer: Scar Removal options Dear MoniqueIt sounds as if you had one of the dreaded side effects of injecting steroids, tissue loss due to dermal thinning. Im sure you must feel really frustrated. Certainly filling in the tissue underneath is one option, but it sounds as if you did not like the results.Three other options that might help would be fat transfer, PRP injections or using a laser which can treat deeply to induce collagen remodeling in the dermis. Fat transfer can be tricky in the nose, as the overlying tissue is often thin, and it can be difficult to gauge how much fat to put in balanced with knowing that some of the fat will not survive. A series of 2-3 platelet rich plasma injections would be beneficial by releasing growth factors from your own platelets to induce your body to heal the area. A CO2 laser such as the Lumenis DeepFX would cause collagen remodeling and help fill in the area. I have seen good results on atrophic scarring. I hope you find this information helpful and can find a solution right for youDr S
