Can I have a tummy tuck while on hormone pellets?

I am a plastic surgeon and have seen this with my patients before. It is fine to proceed. The oral pills increase risk of  blood clots but the pellets do not carry the same risk. Use of Lovenox is always a good idea to start with this procedure which lowers the risk to very low for a blood clot. Good Luck!

You can have a blood thinner administered for several days after the surgery to reduce the risks of this complication. Yes, you are correct. Hormone replacement therapy, whether the hormone replacement is oral, pellets, injection, topical, or intrauterine with an IUD, increases the risk of venous thrombosis, also known as blood clots. Ultimately, it is you who is undergoing the procedure so you have to be the one willing to take the increased risk of an event, which includes death. Your surgeon should do an assessment of your thromboembolic risk, give you a score, and prescribe the appropriate prophylactic treatment if you wish to proceed with the procedure. Best of luck.
