Hello,Dry skin is common when tissue is inflamed and stretched. My patients can use whatever lotions they choose however I do advise they take care to avoid applying it near the steri strips/incision which could loosen them. Ask your plastic surgeon what they recommend for you. All the best
Every surgeon has their own preference as far as what after care products to use. I generally have patients use what they have used in the past and what has worked for them. However, the amount and frequency that is needed is generally increased as the skin has lost some of its own ability to lubricate the skin. With time it will be able to moisturize itself.Hope that helps.
Dear Msicox, every plastic surgeon has his own postoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery
Thank you for your question. I typically recommend Aquaphor or Vaseline to prevent dry skin after surgery. This should only me necessary for a few weeks. Best of luck with your recovery.
The best moisturizers are simple petroleum with no perfumes or vitamin acids. I recommend plain Vaseline or Aquaphor type products. Apply once a day massaging the ointment until it is minimally moist on the skin
You should ask your surgeon as to whether he/she has any preferences regarding moisturizers. For my patients, I tell them to use whatever they have found effective in the past. I don't think the particular brand is important.Steven Turkeltaub, MD
Every physician has their preferences, and I would encourage you to discuss with your surgeon. I often recommend lac hydrin, cerave, or cetaphil. Some patients also benefit from wearing a cotton t shirt under their binder or garment. Hope this is helpful and hope your recovery progresses quickly and easily.
Thanks for the great question. Any non irritating lotion will work. Something like Elta MD or Cetaphil should provide you some relief without irritating the skin. Congratulations on your surgery!Best,~Dr. Sieber
Hello,The lump you feel may be related to fat necrosis but may also be related to swelling and contour irregularities related to liposuction. I recommend that you see your plastic surgeon in person for an exam and recommendations. All the best
Allow more like 6 months or even more to assess your final result. you can have swelling during the healing phase. be patient and watch your dieting etc. try not to be too critical, so early on.hang in there.david berman md
Thanks for your question, I like to recommend for the scar care the Epi-derm Silicone Gel Ship or Clear Long strip, make sure to wear those for at least 3 or 6 months. Good luck with your recovery :)
