How long does it take for steroid shots to work post rhinoplasty?

If there is persistent nasal swelling in the bridge area just above the nasal tip (supratip), dilute steroid injections may be helpful. When needed, we typically start with Kenalog 2.5-10mg/cc, and reassess 3-4 weeks later. Wishing you well. Dr Joseph

In general some results from steroid shots are seen within a week.  However, swelling after rhinoplasty in the tip can take months to resolve.  Often monthly steroid shots can give improvement where one shot does not.

Dear Mnsa99, In some patients you can see the difference from a steroid injection within the first week. My general rule is to wait four to six weeks to see the results. With revision surgery you will have more swelling in the tip and the tip area is the last part of the nose for the swelling to dissipate. See your surgeon often for follow up appointments so that he/she can provide you with some peace of mind during the recovery process.
