Answer: Lip lift to correct asymmetry Hello, I do almost all my lip lifts with local anesthesia and never had anyone describe severe pain. The initial numbing injections can hurt / burn for a couple seconds, but that’s the extent of it. This is very similar to what is done when you go to the dentist, expect you don’t have to worry about drilling or keeping your mouth open. Patients relax for the entire 45 min - 1 hr of the procedure, occasionally feeling pulling and tugging, but no pain. Asymmetries of the cupids bow can be corrected and improved upon, however asymmetries of the lateral (outer part of the lip) are harder to control. From this photo, it looks like the lip itself is larger on the right side, and there is a greater gap on the left. Is there any residual filler material, old scar tissue, or anything else that can account for this? Was there an asymmetry before the procedure? Those are all things to consider, but an in person consultation with a board certified surgeon specializing in lip lifts would be a good next step. Good luck!

Answer: Lip lift revision A lip lift revision can be done to correct asymmetry. I do most of my lip lifts under local anesthesia. However, it can be done under general anesthesia in a hospital but there will be an additional cost of $1500. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Concerns About Lip Lift Revision and Anesthesia Firstly, regarding your question about whether a lip lift revision can correct asymmetrical upper lips, yes, it can. Asymmetry following a lip lift can occur due to differences in healing on each side, and a skilled surgeon can usually correct this with a revision procedure. However, the specific techniques used and the extent of the improvement you can expect will depend on the nature of the asymmetry and your individual anatomy. Regarding your experience of pain during the procedure, while it is normal to feel some discomfort, severe pain is not typical. Local anesthesia should numb the area being operated on, preventing severe pain. If you're considering a revision procedure, it's crucial to discuss your past experiences and concerns about pain management with your surgeon. They can adjust the anesthesia protocol or even consider sedation or general anesthesia, depending on your overall health and the complexity of the procedure.

Answer: Early result after lip lift It is very difficult to comment on your result without before-surgery photos to compare. You should be aware that your scar is still fresh; it takes at least one year in your age group for the scar and result to settle and mature. I would not suggest doing anything before at least one year after your surgery. In-person second opinion consultation should be considered.

Answer: Lip lift revision Since the 1990’s I perform all my upper lip lift by incorporating deep muscle support into the periosteum or lining of the bone around the nose. In that way, a sturdy lift is achieved to provide the best, most esthetic, long lasting results with minimal scarring and nasal distorsion. All upper lip lifts should incorporate deep tension support in order to withstand the hundreds of thousands of movements our lips make per day. This is performed under a light general anesthesia. A revision is possible. I hope this helps, Best of luck !
