Follow-up question: Kybella with acne, how many sessions would I need before I see potential results? (Photo)

Kybella takes 1-3 treatments every 6 weeks to get desired results.  Patient will develop swelling and possible bruising after each injection that may last a few days.  The benefit of Kybella is each treatment is quick and completed in the office. Most patients need more than one treatment to get desired results. Hope this helps.

While the amount of treatments will vary, but most patients need at least 3 treatments to get results. Keep in mind, Kybella is good for dissolving fat under the chin, but a combination approach with other treatments is needed to get the most improvement with non-invasive options. I recommend Kybella with thermage, ultherapy, exilis. VASER liposuction in combination with ThermiRF is the best alternative for contouring the chin, if you're a candidate. Dear SunshineANDfreckles,Kybella typically takes 3 to 5 treatments to work. This is why I've stopped carrying Kybella in my office.  I recommend neck liposuction more often then any injectable procedure for the neck now. It provides superior results gives me more control over the area than any injectable.  It also costs about the same as what you paid for your first kybella session. The liposuction can be done under local while awake in the office and recovery is about the same as kybella.Daniel Barrett, MD

Kybella can cause some mild to moderate swelling and requires at least 2-3 treatments to see a dramatic difference and you need to wait about 6 weeks between treatments. Another option for some patients would be liposuction, this will give you more immediate results with a single procedure but there is more swelling and bruising in the immediate after period. For the best treatment options, it is important to visit an expert for an in-person examination. Hope this helps!

If you were to try Kybella for your submental area you would need at least 3 treatments or more. With liposuction you would need only one treatment.

We do both Kybella and submental liposuction.  You should do fine with either.  For the Kybella, 2 or, most likely, 3 treatments would be required.  I have never had someone who needed 4 or 5.  The will be no issue with the acne.  The acne can be addressed with laser resurfacing once it has quieted down.  Best wishes.
