I got 2 Sculptra sessions - after first session I lost five pounds and second maybe 2lbs, will it still work?

Even though you lost some weight, Sculptra has not been affected. It will still continue to stimulate your skin to produce more collagen, giving you volume and elasticity.
However, often when we lose weight, we lose more facial fat than we wanted, so if you lost weight in your face, the amount of Sculptra you received may no longer be sufficient to give you the look you want. If you look gaunt, then yes, I’d recommend a third session. If you like the way you look after the weight loss, then there is no need to do a third session.  Please find a board-certified dermatologist to do any further Sculptra injections to ensure beautiful and safe results.

Sculptra works by making collagen. Overall nutrition is important and lack of certain macronutrients and calories will affect the outcome. Also, avoid smoking as it shuts down collagen production. Good luck. Dr. Aldo

Thank you for sharing your question.  Weight loss will not impact your Sculptra results but if you tend to lose volume in the face when you lose weight you may require additional vials of treatment to maintain/add the volume that you originally had.  Hope this helps.

Losing the weight after your Sculptra treatment should not affect the results of Sculptra, the collagen will still develop.  Weight loss can reduce the natural volume/fat in the face and  Sculptra is often used to correct for that.  You may find you need additional treatment with Sculptra depending on your goals.   I takes about 6 weeks to see the full effects of Sculptra and that is is a good time to follow up with your provider to assess what you may need.

Congratulations on taking a healthy approach with your diet!  Thankfully losing weight will not affect the results from Sculptra.  Losing fat however can reduce the pre-existing volume in your face and you may want additional vials of Sculptra to assist in replacing that volume.  I recommend making a follow-up appointment 4-6 weeks after your last Sculptra treatment to assess if more vials of Sculptra are needed.

 

What a great question! Fortunately, weight loss really does not affect your sculptra results. Weight loss can cause some volume (fat) loss in the face, but the sculptra is rebuilding collagen, which will restore some of that volume loss. Whether you need another treatment or not is hard to tell without having a clearer understanding of the results you're looking for as well as seeing photos. Your age also has an effect as well. I would discuss your concerns with your provider in order to get the best assessment of your need for further treatments. Hope this helps!

Thank you for your question. As long as you maintained a healthy diet during your weight loss, the collagen stimulating effects of Sculptra should not be adversely impacted. Hi kgordon10,Losing weight is great! You will probably lose a little volume on the cheek but that's fat and not collagen. Sculptra induces collagen growth and that's not impacted by weight loss.
