Needle mark 7 weeks after injecting Sculptra? (Photo)

I got a needle mark (vertical) on my temple area from Sculptra injection 7 weeks ago and can feel the mark. I followed up with my doctor in Edina, MN. She said she couldn’ t feel it and told me that’s my vein. Any advices on whether it’s needle mark and how to treat it?

Thank you for sharing your excellent question.  Thin patients can still use SculpSure but ultimately the best advice can only be given with a full series of photographs or an in-person examination.  Hope this helps.

Is it safe for a dermatologist to do Sculptra or is it better for a plastic surgeon?

Sculptra is a great product when used correctly, but I would say that it requires a bit more experience than most other fillers.  You should look for a physician that has a lot of experience with Sculptra, and this could be a dermatologist, facial plastic surgeon or plastic surgeon.

Thank you for sharing your question and photograph.  I am sorry to see your results but you can seek additional treatment to help improve upon your appearance. I would recommend steroid injections initially into the lumps and if this fails consider 5FU.  Hope this helps.

Sculptra is generally injected in the subcutaneous tissues, above the muscles, but away from the skin as well. It can also be placed right up against the facial bones below the the muscle layer of the face. It's a safe and effective product.Best wishes. Dr. ALDO
