Why did the fat transfer to my butt turn out flat/ square from side angle? (Photos)

At 120 lbs I wasn’t going to get much volume, but thought I’d still get a round shape :( Had boob job in the same operation (performed AFTER bbl), then I was sitting (by instruction) on butt for 3 hours waiting for their after care driver/waking from anaesthesia, then was made to lie on my back in their car (30 min). Is that why it’s square now???? :( (I went to an experienced, board cert PS, with lots of excellent long term before and after photos of girls my size.) Thank you

The overall volume injected as well as location has a great deal to do with results.  Early in recovery swelling can distort the appearance.

Thank you for your pictures and questions. You are still very early from surgery and you need to be patient until things heal. If you have chosen your surgeon well then that is the best thing you can do. It will take 3-6 months for things to settle and you need to stay in touch with your surgeon during this process and discuss your concerns.Best of luck!

Thank you for your question and photos.  Sitting for a short period of time on your buttocks should not have a significant impact on your results.  However, you are very early in the postoperative stage and the swelling can take any where from 4 weeks to 3 months to resolve.  It is important for you to follow-up with your plastic surgeon as scheduled and make sure you are following the postoperative instructions.  I typically request all my patients stay off the buttocks and wear a garment for a minimum of 4 weeks.  Good Day,Nicholas Jones, MD

Dear Martina000,I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a BBL surgery. However, you are still in the early stages of the healing process.
Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively.

Thanks for your question. At just 10 days out, you're pretty early in your post-operative period to make any long term comments on your final result. Sitting for short periods of time certainly is harmless after fat grafting, and certainly the fat grafts will shift somewhat with normal activity. At this stage, the best option is to keep in close contact and follow-up with your surgeon.

My best guess for the shape of your bottom has to do with the underlying connective tissue of your buttocks.
If your plastic surgeon has ample experience with consistently good results then it is unlikely this was technique dependent or had anything to do with postoperative instructions since these are probably consistent for all his or her patients.
The buttocks is a structural part of the body meant to hold our total weight for long periods of time.
This requires a substantial amount of connective tissue which holds the skin to the underlying muscle layers.
This connective tissue often does not allow the area to be stretched forcing a flat spot usually where the greatest pressure is when sitting.
This connective tissue is the same connective tissue they give some people cellulites.
Often patient to develop a large flat spot on there but like after a BBL will have a similar flat spot before the procedure.
After the BBL this flatness is accentuated because the areas around it don't have as much connective tissue.
Some people are inherently not going to get the same roundness as others.
 Your concern is brought up fairly frequently on real self.
Patients often blame the surgeon for putting the fat in the wrong area.
In reality patients very best to being a good candidate for this procedure or not.
These are general statements.
It's not possible for any of us to give you a precise reason to why your outcome is the way it is.
I think it's unlikely this is related to sitting after your procedure.
