I started noticing that I could not put my eye shadow on as easily and my lids were wrinkled. This made me question my appearance. Then I noticed my lower lids appeared tired in appearance. I had already gone to Dr. Butala for some minor things, but I reviewed him and his top notch education and met with him about this surgery. He explained everything and never rushed through. His quality is important to him and he knew it was important to me. I am beyond happy with my results. It has been 5 months and the difference in my eyes are amazing. Recommendation 5 stars
Hi everyone. I'm a mother to two beautiful children. I'm done having kids and lost the baby weight, so I'm ready! I always knew I would get a tummy tuck. After my first child, my muscles separated. I decided then and there, that after my second (and final) I would do this. I have been researching doctors, the procedure, before and after care etc for YEARS. I'm excited to finally be getting this done. At the moment I'm taking iron to keep my hemoglobin level up, cutting out sugars and most carbs, drinking green tea and exercising daily. It's best to go in as fit and small as possible for the best results. I'll keep you posted. Updated on 30 Jun 2021: I went to see my doctor today. I was diagnosed with a hernia :-( He will repair it during the procedure. New date is August 12th. I’m a bit bummed because I feel like my body fell part. Diastasis recti, hernia. Plus, my surgery is now 42 days away. I need to loose about 5 pounds. On a good note, I’ll be getting muscle repair, lipo to waist, bra fat area, flanks plus he’s going to fill out my hip dips with fat transfer. I’m excited about that. I’m so ready to be done. Updated on 12 Jul 2021: My new surgery date is August 12. I was told I have a hernia :( My doctor will repair it during my tummy tuck. I feel a bit down. My date is further out than I thought and I have a hernia. My diastasis recti is bad. I just want this process to be done. Updated on 6 Aug 2021: I’m filled with so many emotions. I went to pre-op last week and did a pregnancy test, blood work, signed consent forms, got my prescription, took before pictures and met with my doctor again. We went over everything that will happen that day and the day after. I will update after surgery next week. Updated on 17 Aug 2021: Hey! I’m 5 days PO and feeling good. Day 1-3 was rough. I was achy and sore. I also got a sore throat from being intubated, so coughing was the worst. Please have honey and cough drops on hand. The swelling is real. I had my first massage yesterday and it was amazing. I felt so much better. I’m moving around, not hunched over, I went to Target (briefly) and had a zoom interview today. I’m doing well. I have 2 drains right in the middle of my vagina. My incision is very low. Overall, my doctor did an amazing job and I feel great. Updated on 2 Sep 2021: Hello! I’ve been so busy lately. I feel good, except for the tightness in the abdomen and the soreness where I did lipo. I’m walking up straight, I’m out and about, doing daily chores and will go back to work in a few days. I’m sleeping better. Wearing the faja is annoying. I’m trying to find the best way to not leave indentations on my skin, even with the lipo foam. I went to a wedding last weekend. I was out of my faja for a while. I got swollen and needed to massage the fluid out. Other than that, I’m getting better everyday. A lot of the swelling has gone down. The picture is right after I took my garments off, so there is a little mark from that. Updated on 3 Sep 2021: Here are the 3 week PO pictures. I added the before picture to put things into perspective. I like for people to see where I started. I also wanted to add that I started getting massages day 4. They really help a lot with the swelling and draining. Updated on 4 Sep 2021: Wow. I woke up this morning, took off my faja to take a shower and was so pleasantly surprised with how much my swelling has gone down. I was like wow. My belly button is healing well. My incision is healing well also. I switched to a less restrictive faja. The one I was wearing was very tight, I had to tone it down a bit. Maybe that helped. I’m also eating very little salt and drinking a lot of water.
The area under my eyes have been bothering me (aesthetically) for months now. I would constantly get asked why I looked so tired or if anything was wrong, and even if I had been crying. Every time these occurrences happened, I would become more and more self conscious. Injectable filler in my tear troughs (under eyes) was something I was apprehensive to try, but I am so glad I did. I am no longer embarrassed by dark circles or sunken in eyes. This procedure is definitely a lifesaver.
Dr. Butala is the best doctor that anyone could ask for. I told Dr. Butala that I wanted bigger pecs and a fuller chest and that's exactly what I got. He sized my pecs up perfect took his time and done a wonderful job. He takes pride in his work and it shows. My pecs look and feel great. It's has been three weeks now since surgery and no problems at all and the pain was not that bad. In fact I had a third of the pain pills left over. Jacki, nurses, and staff are all wonderful and caring as well. I had never had surgery before and was both scared of having surgery and scared of needles and also embarrassed because most males don't get implants. Dr. Butala and his staff were all very professional and understanding. The nurses and his staff made me feel very comfortable for example when they took the blood sample in the pre operation visit and when they put in the I.V. needles in one of his staff held my hand each time. They done a great job each time I barely even felt the needles go in. I really appreciate it sorry I was a big baby but I couldn't help it. Jacki the patient care coordinator set me up with a great doctor, got me a great price and was with me every step of the way. Jacki even put her cell number on the aftercare instruction paper work incase I had any problems or questions and called to check on me to see how I was doing the night of the surgery. I really appreciate everything . None of the plastic surgery places in Winston Salem near where I live even offer pectoral implants. The 100 mile drive each time from my house we're all well worth it. Dr. Butala changed the way I feel about myself and that is priceless. THANKS A MILLION!!! P.S. If your thinking about getting any plastic surgery done this is the place to get it done. They don't even charge for the consultation and everything is included in the price that they give you up front. (Pre opp, surgery fees, anesthesia, implants, post opp visits all included).
I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Butala, he made me feel comfortable with the surgery, informed me of my options, and helped me make the best choice for surgery. I am pleased with the results. His team was great!
LOVED Dr. Butala. I absolutely loved how everything turned out. One year later and I am still happy with the results. He was so patient and kind. He had amazing bedside manner. He took time to answer any questions I had very thoroughly. He is by far the nicest doctor I have ever interacted with. Very pleased with everything.
He is amazing. I went to several consultations all over the city and he was by far the best. I instantly felt comfortable with him and his staff. He was very well versed on the most recent sergical advancements in the field and took the time to explain the pros and cons of all of my options to me. I never hesitate to recommend anyone I meet to Dr. Butala's team!
I had always a small body and chubby cheeks. I searched around for YEARS for a solution. I seen plastic surgeons over and over and I was quoted on outrageous prices. I went to Dr.Butala in August for a consultation. The day of my consultation was awesome. He was very honest and gave me great options. He is very friendly and polite. He’s knowledgeable and explains his procedures very well. I was quoted a great price I literally wanted to cry tears of joy after I got a quote I could actually afford. I felt like other doctors were just trying to take my money and charging me lots of money. Dr.Butala knew exactly what I needed and wanted and the best way to achieve it. I just had my surgery today for facial lipo and it was a breeze. I was very nervous but the nurses put me at ease. I’m now recovering and I’m very relaxed. I’m very excited to see my final results!!
Dr.Butala did an amazing job on my tummy tuck! I went to 4 different plastic surgeons to narrow my choice down and chose him, I am extremely pleased with my results! He is personable and always a pleasure to talk to, and will answer any questions you have before and after surgery. My tummy looks amazing!
The procedure was a little more than expected but the results are awesome. Doc Butala is the best. He takes time to listen to all my crazy questions and he really cares. Way to go Doc. Thanks for making me feel better about myself. I no longer walk around trying to hide my fat... you are the greatest.
Thanks for your message. Its difficult to say what is going on posteriorly because of the waistband of your underwear -- its forcing up posterior tissue. Dogears typically are excess tissue right at the edge of the incision, which is not what you have based on the pictures. However, you do have excess posterior tissue. While a revision may not be necessary, you may want to pursue additional surgery to address that, which is typically through a combination of liposuction and resection. The best course of action is to return to your plastic surgeon to have that area examined. Good luck!
Thank you for your question. From the pictures, I do not think you have a tuberous breast deformity, which is characterized by herniation of the breast parenchyma through the nipple areolar complex and by a tight, constricted lower pole and IMF. Surgery for this usually involves radial scoring of the parenchyma and adjustments to the IMF and is difficult to achieve precise and reproducible results. Fortunately, you have normal, beautiful breasts, and you should have fantastic results with a breast augmentation if you are considering the surgery. Be sure to seek consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon. Good luck, Parag Butala, MD
Thanks for your question. At just 10 days out, you're pretty early in your post-operative period to make any long term comments on your final result. Sitting for short periods of time certainly is harmless after fat grafting, and certainly the fat grafts will shift somewhat with normal activity. At this stage, the best option is to keep in close contact and follow-up with your surgeon. Best of luck Parag Butala, MD
Thanks for your question. From the pictures it's difficult to definitively say which operation would serve you better. Patients who are poor candidates for liposuction are those who have stretch marks or inelastic skin, typically from multiple pregnancies, since liposuction relies on the skin to contract. Also, patients with diastasis, or spreading apart of their abdominal muscles typically from pregnancy, also are better abdominoplasty candidates because the rectus plication can bring those muscles back together and flatten the belly. From the pictures, I do not see stretch marks or substantial diastasis, so I think you'd be a better candidate for liposuction, however, I would encourage you to seek consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon. Thanks and good luck!
Thanks for your question. While dogears are not common, they can sometimes occur after a tummy tuck (or in any other body contouring operation). The easiest way to think of it is simply in terms of tailoring. Two areas of different lengths - the bottom of the incision and the top of the incision - are being brought to together. Because the tissue from above is longer than the tissue below (because it is more curved), that difference in length needs to be negotiated. Typically this can be done by extending the incisions out towards the sides until that difference in length can be worked out. Sometimes, on the operating room table, it appears that the difference has been worked out, but later once the swelling has gone away, it is apparent that one side has some more skin than the other side. Fortunately this is an easy fix and can frequently be done under local anesthesia. I should caution that it typically takes a few months to notice the dogears, as often its truly just swelling. Hope this helps!
