A lot of the bruising has gone down and it doesn’t seem like a lot of the fat “took”. Now I have a leaking lump. Is there anything I could’ve done to be prevent it?

Thank you for your question. I know there are more than 28 plastic surgeons in our area and I’m not sure if you had your surgery at our office since your in our area but this is something that needs to be seen right away by your doctor. Please call the doctor that performed your surgery and have them see you right away. Sometimes it can be as simple as an injection site with a skin infection but in rare cases it can be a fluid collection that needs to be drained before things become worse.

You may have has dome fat necrosis and it might have also result in an infection. You are best to review this with your surgeon.

You must notify your plastic surgeon about this new finding.  Sometimes this may need to be drained or you may need antibiotics.  Notify your plastic surgeon on any changes during your healing phase.  Best wishes.

Thanks for your question. Unfortunately it looks like you have a small area of fat necrosis, or a small area turned into a draining oil cyst. These tend to be self  limiting and will just stop draining on its own. Make sure you follow up with your plastic surgeon so they can follow you closely, as these can become secondarily infected.
