Thank you for your question. This is a great question, since some of the surgeons who answered it, do not know the difference between liposuction and liposculpture. These are not interchangeable terms. Liposuction is fat removal, a debulking procedure. Liposculpture is fat removal and sculpting the areas from where the fat was removed. For example, defining the semilunar line where the lateral rectus muscle meets the oblique muscles, creating the depression between the lateral pectoral muscle and anterior border of the latissimus muscle, defining the paraspinous muscles in the back to create a muscular lower back, creating a "six pack", defining the muscular anatomy of the arm, you get the picture. Liposuction and liposculpture are the same for those surgeons who only know how to make an anatomic area less fat, but cannot do the definition based on the muscle anatomy. A Brazilian Butt Lift or BBL is injecting the fat into the buttocks for shaping and enhancement which was collected with liposuction (liposculpture in the hands of a body sculpting surgeon). Without good liposculpture of the surrounding anatomical areas which border the buttocks, the results are less than optimal. I hope this helps.
