Will cheek fillers help slim my face? (Photo)

The balance between midface (cheek bone area) and lower face can be enhanced in a variety of ways, most commonly in younger patients by adding volume to the midface, and/or removing fat from the lower cheek area, via a short procedure called "buccal fat pad removal". A thorough facial aesthetic assessment with photos from multiple views is needed for optimal evaluation and planning.

Thank you for the inquiry and the photo.  Based on the photo you provided, you'd be a great candidate for fillers in the cheek and midface. Voluma would be a good product to help give a great lift in the cheek bone and give a desirable V-shaped narrowing appearance to the face.

Hi and thanks for your question. From your picture, I agree that you would benefit from filler enhancement of your cheeks. I would suggest conservatively enhancing the front cheek - the malar area and the cheekbones - the zygomatic region. Enhancing those areas will give your cheeks greater prominence relative to the other structures of your face, which brings attention up to your eyes. This has the overall effect of lifting the focal point of your face and giving your face more of an oval appearance. I would suggest using a long lasting filler like Voluma rather than Juvederm though. It is a better structural filler, lifting tissues and preserving definition better than a softer filler like Juvederm. Voluma lasts for 1.5 to 2 years, but is fully reversible at any time with a simple injection of enzyme.You could also try to slim your jaw with Botox injection of the masseter muscles. Facial fillers could be a nice option to help you achieve your aesthetic goals. I would need to see you in person to discuss your goals. If i did use a filler it would be Voluma and not Juvederm.

Volume and contouring of the face can be improved with well-placed fillers (Voluma, Radiesse, Bellafill) and Sculptra. Fat or implants are alternatives. Liposuction can be used to further slim the face. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a facial sculpting expert. Best, Dr. Emer
