I recently had a mammogram and the report stated: "Breast Density: (NOT DENSE)" and "The breasts are almost entirely fatty." I read this means I have a very low percentage of fibrous and glandular tissue vs fatty tissue. What I am wondering is if this makes a difference in being able to have a breast lift with auto augmentation? I am 62 and average weight. But I have excess loose skin because I had implants for 10 years which were then removed over 20 years ago. I do not want implants again. Thank you!
Answer: The Bellesoma Method is independent of breast density The breast lift technique I recommend is The Bellesoma Method. This technique will reshape your breast tissue creating upper pole fullness without implants, elevate them higher on the chest wall and more medial to increase your cleavage. Vertical scars are avoided, nipple sensation and the ability to breast feed are maintained if not injured from previous surgeries. The weight of the breast is transferred to the underlying pectoralis major muscle, which will prevent inferior descent. This technique is independent of breast density. Best Wishes,Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Removal of implants and breast lift It looks to me that we already have an answer; removal of current implants and breast lift. If you do not like implants and skin and soft tissue are too stretched and atrophic, it is possible to place fat grafts to bring extra volume and shape the breast. Good luck.

Answer: The Truth About A Breast Lift Hello,In reality, the durability of a breast lift is inversely proportional to breast mass and volume, i.e. big, heavy breasts will sag sooner and more after breast lift. Breast glandular tissue (which makes a breast dense) is denser and firmer than fat, so it contributes to a loss of lift. The other important factor is skin elasticity, with younger, thicker skin more likely to maintain results. The employment of absorbable mesh like Seri and Galaflex, or biologic sheets of protein matrices like Strattice, don't seem to help very much on any consistent basis. Keeping this in mind, the use of fat grafting or a subpectoral implant is the best way to give upper pole fullness and return volume after a breast lift/reduction. Go visit a few ABPS certified/ASAPS member surgeons who specialize in breast surgery. Best of luck!

Answer: Breast Density and Breast Lift Yes, it matters a lot in my experience. A fatty breast cannot be sculpted nor can it stay in the uplifted position as well as a more dense, glandular breast. The other major factor is the elasticity and thickness of the skin.

Answer: Does breast density determine the ability to have a good outcome for having a breast lift with auto augmentation? Thank you for your questions. These are good things to consider. The density of the breast has more to do with how the breast ages than with your candidacy for a procedure. As women age, the breast tissue gets replaced with fatty tissue and the breast begin to droop and sag. This is a natural process. If you are considering a breast lift with auto-augmentation, your fatty breast would be more likely to influence how the result ages or settles. A fatty replaced breast would tend to settle more and provide a more natural result with less upper pole fullness than a young fibrous breast. Hope this helps!
