Why is my body rejecting the sutras even though I’m almost 5 weeks post breast lift?

I got a breast lift and tummy tuck January 12th I have scab like wounds popping up all over and the sutras are actually visible I’ve had some bleeding here and there is this normal?

Some patients have sutures that "spit" or erupt through the skin closure.  It is usually more of a nuisance than a problem issue.

Nickie,What you are describing is a common issue called 'spitting sutures'.  The body sometimes reacts to the suture material and the knots can flip up through the scar and you feel the sharp firm knots or suture ends.  They are easily removed and the skin heals right back over them.  Go see your Plastic Surgeon and they should remedy the situation with ease.  You may apply Bacitracin/Neomycin/Polymyxin or even Vaseline over them as these tend to keep the knots moist and aid in their dissolving.  Best of luck with your continued healing.Dr T
