Arm Lipo with Local Anesthesia?

I always do it at the same time and over the past 14 years I have NEVER used the dangerous general anesthesia for this procedure ever.  I have gotten amazing results for this procedure.  GA in studies on lipo has shown to cause morbidity and mortality and it is NOT needed.  I trained at UCLA and Brazil and am an expert in lipos and BBL.  Our Center the Plastic Surgery of Beverly Hills is the first center in west on West Coast where lipo was introduced in the USA over 30 years ago.  Hope that helps

Arm liposuction can easily be done in an office setting under local anesthesia.  However, if you are already under general anesthesia for your BBL procedure doing your arm liposuction at that time makes sense in that it will end up being less expensive, just one recovery period rather than two, and it only adds about 1/2 hour to the overall operative time.  I hope this is helpful to you.Thomas Taylor, MD, FACSPasadena, CA

I find that doing the procedures at once is much better plus you can use the additional fat for grafting.  Local procedures for arms is limited and I used to do it a lot this way but got way less results.  I suggest seeing a body shaping expert trained in 4D hi def liposuction.  Best, Dr. Emer.

If you choose to stagger these procedures and want to do the arm separately this can certainly be done without a general anesthetic.

Hello anon_cali,Thanks for your question.It is perfectly fine to add the arm lipo at the time of your BBL.  It just makes you have one recovery.  Arm lipo is quick to recover from and not very painful.You might save a little money having arm lipo in the office at another time, but you would still have a 2nd recovery.I hope this answer helped.Dr. Shah

 I recommend that you have all of the procedures done at the same time while you are under General anesthesia. 

This really depends on you and your goals. Would adding the arms to the BBL surgery give your more fat for transfer that you need or do you have plenty of fat without the arms added? How much fat is being removed on the day of the BBL. There are restrictions to how much lipoaspirate can be removed safely in one setting. After a certain amount you area required to stay the night for monitoring etc. You should ask your PS since they know more about the specifics to your case and goals/expectations and therefore, would be able to give you a better answer.

Good Morning.  Thank you for your questions.  I would definitely suggest liposuction of your arms at the same time as your BBL.  You are already under general anesthesia and will only have one recovery period instead of two.  However, if you chose to have them done separately, you would be able to do your arms under local anesthesia if your PS is okay with doing so. Doing your arms at the same time as your other areas will give your PS more fat to work with for your BBL as well.  You should not have much pain from the liposuction of your arms.  Your discomfort and tenderness will mostly be in your buttocks.  Also, you will probably have some cost savings.  Again, my recommendation would be to do at the same time.

However, if you are already undergoing liposuction of BBL then you might wish to do all these procedures at one time and use all the fat for the BBL in case it is needed.
