I had a breast augmentation almost a year ago my areola on the left breast is hanging I do not know how to explain but I would like a opinion on what could have happened. Can it be fixed? I was thinking maybe there could be fluid Has anyone seen this before ?
Answer: Tethered Scar Hello,This is not an 'easy fix' unless some sort of breast lift is performed. Dr. Taylor mentioned a circumareolar lift, which would eliminate your tethered areola and trade it for prominent scarring that goes all the way around your areola. Your breast deserve a formal breast lift, which would vastly improve your breast shape, areola diameter, and nipple areolar complex position on the mound. Although there are 'more scars' with a formal lift, their appearance would be far more innocuous than a circumareolar lift.

Answer: Areola reduction Dear Helen, Thanks for posting your pictures, though, a full chest front and side view pictures would have been helpful, so we can see the two breasts in full view and compare symmetry. From observing your pictures, your areola appears like in a tubular breast situation - herniating areola and it is very large. The most efficient way to correct your problem is performing purse string areola reduction (donut, Benneli). That procedure will tighten and flatten the areola. It will also reduce the size of the areola and make it more attractive. Always, consult with experienced board certified plastic surgeons who operate in accredited surgery center for your safety. Most importantly, check the before and after pictures of breasts augmentation with mini lift in the photo gallery, to make sure that they are numerous, consistent and attractive with nice areola, nice cleavage, perky, symmetrical and natural looking. Best of luck, Dr Widder

Answer: Areolar distortion It appears you had your breast implants placed through an areolar incision and the resulting scar tissue has caused some tethering underneath and overlaying areolar skin wrinkling. If you want to maintain your current areolar size a simple scar revision procedure can be done in an office setting under local anesthetic alone. I think an areolar reduction procedure would be a better option to correct your problem and to improve the overall look of your breasts. This can also be done in an office setting. I hope this was helpful to you!

Answer: Areola It appears that you have a scar around the lower portion of your areola. Did you happen to have your implants placed through that incision? However, debulking your nipple may be a possibility. Some patients after an augmentation may want to have this done to reduce the amount of projection behind the areola. I would suggest you consult with your ASPS Plastic Surgeon to get an in person opinion with a price quote. I wish you the best of luck!
